Montenegro is a small state on the Adriatic coast, where the rest is decorated with a comfortable typical Mediterranean climate. Montenegro resorts are a good option for a relatively budget holiday with high comfort. It is worth noting that the swimming season begins here from mid-May and ends in October.

The coast of Montenegrin resorts is filled with both sandy beaches and places of recreation with pebbles. But for the most comfortable holiday you should opt for resorts with sandy shores. Let us consider in more detail the most popular holiday destinations in Montenegro with soft sand near the water.

Where are they located?

The total length of the Montenegrin coast is 293.5 km. And on these shores are located the main capitals of Montenegro - its beaches, of which there are only 117. What is remarkable, there is no concept of a “private” beach in Montenegro; leave at least half the space free of sun beds, guarantee free admission and access to the sea.

The beaches of Montenegro are distinguished by their cleanliness, water quality, and landscaping, which was marked by blue flags. The shores are predominantly rocky, concrete or pebble, while the areas with sand are not very numerous. But each of the sandy beaches of Montenegro is worthy of attention, and many tourists do not pass them by. A feature of the sandy beaches of Montenegro is the heavy sand, which willingly sinks to the bottom (actually, that is why the blue flags stick to the beach resorts of this country). The main seaside resorts with sandy beaches are located in the cities of Herceg Novi, Kotor, Budva, Ulcin, Bar, Tivat.

The number of sandy embankments in these cities varies. For example, in Kotor there is only one sandy beach - Ljuta, located almost 10 kilometers from the city center. Herceg Novi has several main sandy beaches, but the most popular ones are Sutorina (or Blatna Plaza) and Zhorovich. The beaches of Zhorovicha are very beautiful, it is believed that they have healing sand.

In Tivat, a large number of beaches with sandy surfaces, including Selyanovo, Opatovo and Kalardovo (not completely sandy) as well Blue horizons (with the same hotel complex). In Budva, among the many beaches the most famous Jaz, Trsteno (with steep seabed), Ploce (isolated from others, therefore suitable for peaceful rest), Mogren with a steep entrance to the sea as well Slavic beach (pebbly, but sand is present).

In addition to these beaches, Budva has Becici, which is ideal for family holidays due to the extensive sandy space and more gentle terrain, Kamenovo, Tsrevna Glavitsa, Perazic, Petrovac and Lucice. All these beaches form the so-called Budva Riviera.

There are beaches in the Bar Sutomore and Red Beach. Ulcinj is ready to offer Big beach with a coastal length of more than 10 kilometers, which can serve for those who are looking for a relaxing holiday. Also Ulcinj has beach on Ada Bojana, but it is mainly for nudists and seekers of secluded relaxation. And in the town of Dobra Voda is Great Pesac (or Pijesac) beach.

The most beautiful and original

Such a great abundance of beaches in this country explains a large number of beautiful beach "pearls".

The first "pearl" in our list will be Sveti Stefan in the Budva Riviera. Sveti Stefan is located on the island of the same name with clear water, golden sand and desirable solitude. One part of the coast on the sandy spit belongs to the hotel, and the other is public, both parts are separated by an isthmus. The total length of the coastline is about 700 meters, and this coast is never crowded. Moreover, to visit the beach, you need to rent a sunbed for 100 euros, and in the neighborhood on the same spit you can relax for free.

Sveti Stefani beach has a “golden apple” - a prestigious international award.

Montenegro has its own "Hawaii" on the island of St. Nicholaswhich is located near Budva. Its name - "Hawaii", the island justifies the presence on its bank of the same name restaurant. Some of the time the island is connected to Budva path. On the "Hawaii" there is a secluded, wild embankments, and popular, with good infrastructure and a steady stream of tourists.

These places are distinguished by turquoise water, which pleases tourists, but there are many sea urchins in the water, so you need to be careful.

In Montenegro, among other things, there are Royal Beach, divided into the beaches of the King and the Queen and also located near Budva, in the lagoon in the area of Milocera. It was named this way because it was previously owned by the royal family of Karageorgievich. In total, this coastal zone has a length of 200 meters, and only the King’s Embankment is sandy. The whole complex of the royal beach is assigned to the “Sveti Stefan Aman Resort”, and you can get to this area without living in a hotel for at least fifty euros.

It should be noted that this place has an elite status, mainly VIP-persons, politicians, celebrities have a rest here.

The Budva Riviera also includes Slavic beach with a mixture of sand and small pebbles. It is located near the center of Budva, has a volleyball court and a length of more than 1.5 kilometers. This area is remarkable, first of all, for its atmosphere of parties, fun and incredibly rich leisure, but this can be a minus for those who appreciate solitude.

Great beach Not far from Ulcinj, it is 13 kilometers long, and the sand is white there. The shore is shallow and the bottom is shallow, the depth increases slowly, up to 40 meters from the water's edge.

The water is very clean, also equipped with sports fields.

The best beaches for families with children

If you intend to relax by the sea with children, the beaches should be clean, safe, and if possible, with shallower waters.

In Montenegro, the best sand areas for families with children - Sutomore, Rafailovici, Kamenovo, Lucice, Bulyaritsa, Petrovac, Chan, as well as the bay Lustica.

Sutomore has a length of 2.5 kilometers, and in some places steep slopes lead to the beach. Especially nice in Sutomore is that during the tourist season most of the streets are blocked for transport, which increases the safety of the city for children. The atmosphere on the embankments of Sutomore is calm, but there is an opportunity to engage in active leisure activities, such as diving, ride a banana and a cheesecake, try a jet ski and catamaran.

There are many cafes on the coast and, despite the abundance of tenants, the infrastructure is exactly the same throughout the entire territory.

The first one is conditionally common with neighboring Becici with a sandy surface, paragliding and jet skiing. The second zone is located to the east and differs from the first only in that it is located closer to the island of St. Stephen, and the coastal strip is somewhat narrower. The third part, unlike the first two, has quite a few sun beds, so vacationers are placed on towels.

Since the pier is close, the water here is not very clean compared to other parts of the embankment.

The next section is located in two cozy bays behind the pier, where the water is much cleaner. The fifth section is described above under the name "Hawaii", and the sixth has its name - Kamenovo.

Hawaii
Kamenovo

On Kamenovo we will stop in more detail, since this is a separate beach. This is the cleanest area with transparent turquoise water, located in the vicinity of Budva. Sandy beach with a small amount of small pebbles. If you are going on a vacation with baby strollers, you should know that then the descent can be problematic, but this is not a critical shortcoming, especially if you have more mobile children. The beach is not as frequented as the others, as there is not much housing nearby. The territory of Kamenovo is about 350 meters long. The coastline is wide, the entrance to the sea is shallow.

You can also pay attention to Lučice beach. This is a territory of 220 meters in length, on which even in a season there are no crowds occupying this place. The coast is covered in a small cozy bay and has not quite uniform coverage - small pebbles and coarse sand. The entrance to the sea is shallow, but in places there are relatively large stones, which should be borne in mind. At great depths, occasionally there are sea urchins.

In general, the place is regularly cleared of debris until the attraction of divers. It is curious that in this area it is quite common to leave your belongings unattended and, for example, go to the restroom, cafe or swim. The level of security of this recreation area makes it possible to act this way.

Children can take with them to Buljarica. The shore there is framed by a coniferous forest, thanks to which you can enjoy not only beautiful landscapes, but also fresh forest air mixed with the sea. At this beach, renting supplies is much cheaper than the average in Montenegro.

Bulyaritsa has a length of 2.5 kilometers and a sandy surface with occasionally found small pebbles. The infrastructure lags slightly behind the average level in Montenegro, but the path to this recreation area runs through the settlement with pleasant architecture and spacious buildings. There is a cafe and a restaurant on the beach, there is a shower, and from extra leisure they offer catamarans and water zorbs - hollow plastic balls designed for water skiing.

In addition, the territory has a campsite that allows you to live some time directly by the sea.

Petrovac hides its beach areas in several small bays, the distance to which allows access from hotels on foot. Moreover, there are no exclusively sandy areas in this place, the covering on this recreation area is mainly a mixture of pebbles with coarse sand. The entrance to the sea is shallow, up to 5 meters from the water’s edge, it warms up perfectly, and the depth allows even small children to swim there.

There are no cafes or restaurants on the beach, but they can always be found on the embankment, plus locals often trade in boiled corn and donuts.

Separately, it is worth mentioning one of the beaches of Petrovaci - Lustitsu. It is located 15 minutes walk from the central beach of Petrovaci, moreover, the bay itself is hidden from the eyes of observers who love to gaze out of the windows of the rooms. There is a bar in the middle of the beach, Medin, and a café nearby that offers wood-fired pizza. Closer to Petrovac there is a cozy restaurant surrounded by pine trees.

Chan - a beach of sand and pebbles, which has the name Pearl because of the similarity of local pebbles with pearls. In addition to the main beach, next door is the Queen’s Beach, 220 meters long. It is surrounded by cliffs, so you can only get there by water, it is very convenient to enter it, because the slope is gentle. Kamenya Small beach, 100 meters long, has much more sand.

Both of these beaches are wild and can serve if the main beach is full.
