Any thing in front of a sock, especially wrinkled, should be ironed so that it has a neat look. In the case of a jacket, this is especially important because such clothing is mainly used for work, official events or social events. For proper ironing, there are certain rules that do not allow to spoil this beautiful item of clothing.
Site preparation
In order to stroke a thing and not to spoil it, you will need:
- the ironing table having a narrow nozzle;
- steamer iron (all modern models have such a function);
- cotton or gauze fabric;
- spray bottle filled with water.
It is not recommended to try to iron the thing on a table covered with a towel and similar fabrics, as there is a danger of spoiling it or not achieving the desired result when ironing. The workplace should be well lit, and the cord should not interfere with the movement of the iron. When ironing clothes with your right hand, the rounded end of the ironing board should be on the left, and when working with your left hand, it should be on the right.

From the pockets of his jacket to remove all foreign objects. It is important to know that you should not iron the thing if it is dusty or dirty. Ironing clothes should be directly after it is washed.
If the jacket was kept in the closet for a long time, it will probably be dusty, but not so much as to wash it once again. You can knock the thing out on the street or clean it with a slightly wet brush.
A jacket should be checked for holes, puffs and other damage, and then carefully examine the label to familiarize yourself with the rules of ironing this particular type of fabric.
Step-by-step instruction
The ironing of the jacket is performed in a specific order so as not to spoil the clothes.
- Pockets. They need to turn out and ironed through a damp cloth or gauze, then return to normal and ironed already tucked.
- Sleeves and shoulder seams. This moment of ironing is considered the most difficult, because the sleeves should be without arrows. Such parts of clothing should be steamed. Tidy up these elements of the jacket can only be when using ironing. If there is none, then a rolled-up towel will do. He or the ironer is inserted into each sleeve and placed under the “shoulders”, after which this section of the jacket is ironed through gauze.
- Podborty, shelf and back. At first, all this is ironed out from the inside, after which it is turned inside out and treated with steam through a cloth moistened with water.
- Collar and lapels. Rugged from the outside. The fabric in the corners should be slightly tensioned with the nose of the iron.
One should know such a moment: if the jacket turned out to be dented, then when ironing, not only wet gauze is used, but also the fabric of the clothing itself is richly drenched - so the thing is easier to bring into a beautiful, original appearance.
Without gauze or using additional fabric, the item can be ironed only from the inside at a low temperature. However, it is better to use a cloth to avoid damage to the material.
Features
All materials require a different approach.For high-quality care of a thing, it is necessary to take into account the peculiarities of the fabric and recommendations for ironing and steaming.
- Leather jackets. It is better not to iron clothes. If the leather jacket hesitated, then you can simply hang it on the hangers of the desired size and wait a few days until the folds and creases themselves disperse. You can also hold the jacket over the hot water tank for 20 minutes. In that case, if these options do not help, the product made of leather can be ironed with a slightly heated iron, but only on the lining side.
- Linen jacket. Such jackets, as a rule, do not have a lining, therefore they iron them on each side and with the use of steam. It should be remembered that flax is a material that is extremely wrinkled easily. Smooth it to the ideal state is almost impossible, so minor folds on it are quite acceptable.
- Cotton This material is well tolerated by high temperature, but in order to make it well-smoothed, before work it is worth wetting gauze and soaking the product itself with moisture well.
- Silk. This fabric has a natural origin, therefore in most cases it is not recommended to iron. Synthetic materials should be ironed at the lowest temperature of the soleplate.
- Woolen. The wool is ironed at a low temperature, while the iron cannot be pressed tightly to the clothes, otherwise it will remain shiny areas that spoil the look. By the end of the work, the jacket should be only slightly wet or completely dry - incomplete drying can lead to shrinkage of the fabric. If the thing has sat down after washing, then in the process of smoothing it can be stretched.
- Corduroy. It is better to iron such fabrics without a steamer, on the wrong side, by placing a facial soft cloth. If the jacket still needs to be ironed from the outside, the iron is moved exclusively in the direction of the nap.
- Synthetic jacket. Since this material is of artificial origin, it is extremely difficult to remember it. If wrinkles appear, it is easy to get rid of them with a slightly heated iron without using a steamer.
How to iron and steam a children's jacket?
Jackets for children, which, as a rule, are school uniforms, are made of blended fabrics, so when ironing them, the iron should not be heated to more than 150 degrees. To avoid the shine of the material after ironing, gauge or thin cotton napkins are used during work. Pockets, collar and jacket lapels are not smoothed - they are best treated with a steam.
Bubbles may appear on clothing after ironing, for example, on the sleeves. Then they are straightened, wet cloth is put on bulging places and ironed until irregularities disappear.
What to do if there is no iron?
Sometimes there are situations when you urgently need to stroke a jacket and you don’t have an iron on hand. Such an event is not uncommon in business trips, when the jacket, for example, lay for a long time folded in a bag. But it can be steamed at home.
In this case, you can resort to the following instructions:
- fill the bath with hot water and close the door tightly so that the room is filled with steam;
- take suitable hangers and hang a jacket on them, straightening all the folds on it;
- leave the item in the bathroom for 20-25 minutes;
- after the indicated time, hang the jacket to dry in a room or in fresh air, without removing it from the hanger.
It is worth using clothes only when it is completely dry, otherwise the thing will be washed even more.
These tips will help clothes look beautiful even in the absence of iron.
If you follow all the simple rules of ironing and follow the instructions, while watching the information on tags, the jacket will be in good shape for a long time. However, if there is no certainty that when working independently with clothes, the fabric or jacket elements will not be damaged, it is better not to take the risk and hand over the clothes to dry cleaning.
