Description
The city of Bakhchisarai on the map of the Crimea peninsula remains one of the largest regional centers, but there were much more glorious times in its history. It was here that the capital of the Crimean Khanate was once located, and the name itself means “garden-palace”.
The geographical position of the city - on the inside of the mountain range, in the valley of the river allowed to protect it from the steppe winds and floods. The formation of the architectural appearance of the city, where the traditions of different cultures and eras united, is also unique. Bakhchisarai was formed in 1532, and since then its borders have remained practically unchanged.
Today there are 4 main districts in the city.

The burial place of the first of the Giray dynasty - Hadji Giray is located on the territory of Staroselieu. The memorial structure built in 1501 is a family tomb, where later the son of the great ruler was laid to rest. Not far from the mausoleum is located one of the most famous local religious schools - Zinjirli Madrasa. It was erected during the life of Hadji Giray in 1500 and was distinguished by the fact that a chain was hung over its entrance, forcing every incoming person to bow their heads when visiting an institution.
Not differing in pomp and pomp of the design, the building erected in the traditions of the Middle Ages does not even have window openings. His status is reported only by a stone slab on the eastern facade.
The grave and house-museum of I. Gasprinsky
The burial place of one of the most prominent residents of Bakhchisarai, Ismail Gasprinsky, is located on the territory of Zinjirli Madrasa.He actively conducted scientific and educational activities, created literary works. Khan's Palace and the Fountain of Tears
The magnificent Palace of Bakhchisarai is a monument of architecture, recreating the look of the original building of the XVI century, destroyed by a fire in 1736. Thanks to the preserved drawings, the object was fully restored, and today it is part of the protected area. The oldest surviving monuments of architecture here are the Demir-Kapu gate or the portal of Aleviz, created by the hands of the best Italian masters. Interestingly, they were transferred to Bakhchisarai from another palace - Ashlama-Saray.

How to get there?

Automobile communication is carried out in several ways. The first runs through Ai-Petri, with the opportunity to see the surrounding attractions. The second - directly from Simferopol - there is only 33 km along the highway. The third option is the longest - from Yalta through Sevastopol, you have to drive about 115 km.
You can use the bus service. There are direct buses from Yalta, from the bus station - you will have to spend 3 hours on the way.
