Sights of Sevastopol and its surroundings
Sevastopol is a city of military glory, a city of the Russian fleet. A lot of brilliant victories and historical events happened on its territory. Description of the city
Sevastopol is a subject of the Russian Federation. To find it on the map, you must look to the Black Sea, in its northern part. The town is located near Simferopol, on the Crimean peninsula, from where it is easily accessible through Bakhchisarai. Pokrovsky Cathedral

The author of the architectural project was A. Avdeev. The temple is made in the shape of a pyramid, the tip of which is crowned with a massive cross. The interior is lined with marble slabs, with carved on them the names of the dead heroes.

Monument to the Scuttled Ships

"35th Coastal Battery"

Admiralty Cathedral

Panorama "Defense of Sevastopol"

All items of the collection are housed in a historic building in the classical style.
Sevastopol Art Museum. M.P. Kroshitsky
It is a monument of architecture. The complex was designed and built in the XIX century, it is located on the avenue named after Admiral Nakhimov. The museum is designed in the form of three exhibition halls in which you can see an extensive collection of paintings, various sculptures, graphic works. The works of Renaissance masters, artists graduates of the Flemish School of Art are presented. Masterpieces of Russian and European masters of painting since the period of the XVIII century.
Local Lore
The building was organized in 1968. The museum is located in the Leninsky district, near the station of the railway station.It contains dozens of collections consisting of thousands of exhibits: fossils, minerals, stuffed animals, herbariums, and so on. The peculiarity of the museum is that collection items are constantly updated, thanks to visiting pupils of city schools of various expeditions.
Museum aquarium
The institution was built in the XIX century and at that time was the first aquarium of the Russian Empire. Tauric Chersonesos

Balaklava Bay

Object 825ГТС
Located on the territory of Balaklava Bay. Today it is the former secret object of the Soviet Union. At this facility housed the base of submarines with nuclear weapons, ready at any time to strike back.
By 2014, the facility was supposed to house the Cold War Dungeons Museum, but this did not happen.
Object "Mole"
The object is located underground, was built in 1930. Initially, according to the idea, a power station was to be located on its territory, but the outbreak of war in 1941 changed the construction plans. In the peace period, the construction of the facility was resumed. To date, it has not been completed. Concrete labyrinths are frozen until the ideas for their use are invented.
Genoese fortress "Chembalo"
This facility is also located on the territory of Balaklava Bay. However, only parts of the fortified walls, the ruins of the towers, the temple reached us. Previously, there was a lively trade. Commercial settlement founded by immigrants from Genoa. On the territory of the Crimea, you can find three such buildings. One is located in Sudak, the other in Feodosiya and the third in Balaclava. When the area came under the control of the Ottoman Empire, all the complexes fell into disrepair.
Chorgunsky aqueduct
The building was erected in the XIX century on the Black River. The bridge was used partially as water supply. The length of the building reaches 14 meters. During the end of the Crimean War, the water supply through the aqueduct was discontinued, part of the bridge’s structures were destroyed.
Georgievskaya rock
The rock is located one and a half kilometers from Cape Fiolent. At the top is a cross, set in memory of St. George the Victorious. Descending from the mountain, you get to Jasper Beach, which rightfully bears the name of one of the best in the Crimea.The coastline of the beach is covered with small pebbles of various colors. The water is clean, clear.
Rising from the beach on the 800-step staircase, you can get to the St. George's Monastery.
Cape Aya
In 1900-1915, remains of a 12th-century settlement were found in the vicinity of the cape. Cape received its name from the Greek word "Aios" - holy. It was hypothesized that in ancient times this area was sacred for people arriving from Hellas. Another version claims that the cape served as a guide for ships.
Cape Fiolent
Rocky coastline with a colorful view of the Black Sea. On the cape are clean beaches with blue sea water. Along the coast there are tourist routes.
Diorama "Storm of Sapun Mountain"
Another large battle pictorial work. The canvas is placed on Sapun-mountain in a semicircular exhibition complex. In the center of the hall there is an observation deck, which allows to examine the entire composition in detail. The film tells about the events of 44 years of XX century.
Inkerman cave monastery
Monastic cloister, located directly in a cave near Sevastopol. According to one of the versions, the building was built in the period of the VIII-XV centuries. After the capture of the Crimea by the Ottoman Empire, the monastery fell into disrepair. In the XIX century, its first revival happened, the second was at the end of the collapse of the USSR.
Vladimir Cathedral in Chersonese
The temple was erected in honor of the memory of the baptism of Grand Duke Vladimir. The first building of the temple was made in the Byzantine style and appeared during the reign of Alexander II, but, unfortunately, was destroyed during the Second World War. Until 2000, the cathedral was in a state of ruins. The reconstruction of the temple took place only in 2004, at the same time it was consecrated.
Palace of childhood and adolescence
The palaces of childhood and adolescence were scattered throughout the USSR, in which children could practice various sciences, creative work, attend circles, sports clubs, and so on. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, these institutions gradually fell into disrepair and were closed.
However, in Sevastopol, the palace does not stop its work, and children aged 5 to 17 years old come here to spend their free time with benefit.
Ecopark Lukomorye
Place for a family holiday. In the park there are museums, a theater, places for food, attractions and a zoo corner. The main attractions of the park are the heroes of the fairy tales of A.S. Pushkin. On weekends, holidays, Ecopark Lukomorye organizes holidays for children, game shows. The real gem of the park is the south residence of Santa Claus.
Theater of the Black Sea Fleet
The theater on the orders of Marshal Voroshilov was erected in 1932 and became one of the first professional theaters in the USSR. The military troupe gave performances on ships, ordinary scenes. Basically, all the works were related to the theme of the naval revolution. The theater did not stop its work even during the Great Patriotic War. Part of the costumes and decorations were destroyed during the bombing.
Recreation and entertainment
For those who prefer to relax in nature or come for a swim in the warm sea, it is recommended to visit the clean beaches of Sevastopol and explore the natural surroundings of the city. Together with the local you can go to Maximov Dacha. On sunny days, this place is visited by many people. The forest belt is formed by secular trees, badminton lawns, and field hockey. If you have access to vehicles, you should go to the 17th kilometer.
The plot runs along the highway Sevastopol-Yalta. Rest takes place on the green meadows, under the noise of deciduous trees. Outdoors it is allowed to make bonfires, to arrange picnics, to fry kebabs.
