The southern coast of Crimea attracts tourists with beautiful places, landscapes that are good without any filters and, of course, man-made sights. Many of them are located in Gurzuf, a village that has taken Ayu-Dag mountain under its wing.

Interesting places in Gurzuf

Gurzuf is a small town located only 18 km from Yalta, it is included in its urban district. The artifacts found by scientists in this area give the right to speak about the settlements that were here in the third millennium BC. At first, Tauri lived in Gurzuf, then the Byzantines (who built, by the way, a fortress on the cliff Dzhenevez-Kaya, now known as Gurzuf or Genoese fortress). Three centuries the village was part of the Turkish Sultanate, and in 1783 he joined the Russian Empire.

Each era has left its mark in Gurzuf, and weighty. In this village in the Crimea, you can really study history. Even the number of famous people who had time here to rest and live is impressive: Pushkin, Chekhov, Surikov, Bunin, Shalyapin, Kuprin, Gorky, Rachmaninov ... The list goes on.

It is no coincidence that Gurzuf is called little Italy: it is difficult to disagree with this description. It is worth remembering the Roman metro, which is rather small by European standards - there is nowhere to dig, everywhere there is a cultural layer. So it is in Gurzuf that neither step, then sights.

Namely:

  • rock with the ruins of the Genoese fortress;
  • children's center with international meaning "Artek";
  • cliffs of Adalara;
  • Pushkin's rock and Shalyapin's rock;
  • Arbor of the winds;
  • Bear Mountain (or Ayu-Dag).

Each object should be seen, go to it, and best of all - to see in the guided tour. After all, there are a lot of myths and stories, various legends associated with these places.

Some objects are located in closed areas of boarding houses, but you can get there. If you book a visit through the tour desk, then you will visit the Rachel Fountain, the Pushkin Museum, and the beautiful parks.

Historical and cultural monuments and museums

If you are interested in reconstruction, for which modern man was inspired by a spiritual impulse, then you should definitely visit Holy Assumption Cathedral. Yes, it was built already in the new millennium, but it has a prototype, a temple from pre-revolutionary Russia. The church did not survive the Soviet era, and the locals and patrons built a new one, as a memory of the past.

Chekhov House Museum

Obligatory to visit and the house-museum of A. P. Chekhov (or as it is also called the cottage Chekhov and Knipper). The great Russian writer did not plan to live in the Crimea, he needed Moscow, this is where Anton Pavlovich felt happy. But doctors have left no choice - you need to change the climate (the writer had been sick with tuberculosis for 8 years). In Yalta, Chekhov bought a plot of land, built a two-story house, called it "White Dacha." In the last year of the XIX century, Chekhov with his sister and mother moved to the Crimea. And I realized that I had made a mistake: having learned about Chekhov’s southern haven, guests constantly visited him.

He wanted a refuge, a small house: and he bought, this time in Gurzuf itself, a Tatar saklya. He did not even bargain when he saw the future ownership, then wrote enthusiastically to his sister that from now on a small cove belonged to them. There were almost no guests here, only the visit of Bunin and Komissarzhevskaya is known.

Anton Pavlovich bequeathed his little but beloved refuge to his wife. Almost every summer Olga Leonardovna Knipper spent here.Artists of the famous Kachalovo troupe stayed here during the tour. Inspired the place and artists, wrote here the famous Aivazovsky, Kukryniksy, Bisti.

In the middle of the 20th century, the artist Meshkov became the owner of the dacha, and after a dozen years, the Chekhov's house was once the property of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Today, as a museum, the summer house works all year round, in addition to the Chekhov's exposition, temporary exhibitions are also located here.

Museum of A.S. Pushkin

In the house of the governor-general of Novorossia and Bessarabia, Richelieu in 1820, A. Pushkin lived. Only three weeks in Gurzuf, but nevertheless, later the poet considered these weeks as one of the happiest days in his life.

The appearance of the museum was not simple, it first appeared in the 30s of the last century. Several times he passed "from hand to hand." Today, all traditional Pushkin dates are celebrated in the museum: reader competitions, music and poetry days are held here. The International Pushkin Readings and the Days of Adam Mitsevich in Crimea also take place here.

The museum, of course, will be of interest to the Pushkin scholars, who care about the poet's biography. It’s definitely worth a visit to a place that once inspired classics.

House of creativity and recreation named after K. A Korovin

In 1912, the painter Konstantin Korovin built a summer house in Gurzuf. The history of this house is intertwined with another “Gurzuf hero”, A.P. Chekhov. The writer offered Korovin to settle at his dacha. But he refused, the sound of the sea did not very well affect the health of the artist. And then Korovin built himself a workshop, but not right at the coast, but at a distance. From the workshop window, by the way, Chekhov's house was visible.

And although the artist lived in Gurzuf for only 6 years, this period of his work was extremely fruitful. Many works written in those years make you stop, peer, sensory feel the energy coming from the paintings “Pier in Gurzuf”, “Fishing Bay”, “By the Sea”. What is so interesting Korovin, ask a person who is not very well versed in painting? Probably the fact that this is the first Russian impressionist.

To penetrate the atmosphere of the beginning of the 20th century, to make out the furniture, furniture, and furnishings of the artist’s dacha is a pleasant, interesting experience. The artist called Salambo. And today you can come to the villa "Salambo", year-round holiday home for 70 people. There are rooms with balconies in the villa, which offers a gorgeous view of the Gurzuf Bay and the very mountain Ayu-Dag.

Entertainment for tourists and children

The southern coast of Crimea is ideal for families with children. Subtropics, Mediterranean climate, most of the precipitation in autumn and winter. The season changes dramatically: it was just winter or autumn, and suddenly - summer. If children are prone to lung disease, they should visit here.

Although, if you come here in the spring, there is something to see. For example, beautiful snowdrops and crocuses bloom on the slopes of Mount Ayu-Dag. The height of the mountain is not very big - 577 m. Once the mountain had to turn into a volcano, and now it can be considered a natural mineralogical museum.

A park

The city park is another place in Gurzuf, which is not a visit to a crime for a tourist. It is a monument of landscape art, founded in the beginning of the XIX century already mentioned above Duke of Richelieu. The park covers an area of 12 hectares, the main thing is that there are more than 110 species and forms of shrubs and trees on this territory. Here you can see the local Crimean pine, small-fruited strawberry, pistachio.

From imported plants you can admire large-flowered magnolia, pyramidal evergreen cypress, Lebanese cedar, European olive. A notable botany lesson for both children and adults will turn out on such a walk.

And next to the southern gate of the park is the gallery, another surprising phenomenon for the tourist. Here are located sculptures of famous people who at various times visited Gurzuf. Adam Mitskevi, Fedor Shalyapin, Vladimir Mayakovsky appear before the guests of the park.Here you can also see the famous Pushkin cypress, a tree for 200 years, and it is mentioned in Pushkin’s letter to Delvig: a classic writes that he has become attached to a tree with a feeling similar to friendship.

On the territory of this park today there are two sanatoriums - Pushkino and Gurzufsky. And on the outskirts of the park, the famous Gurzuf Dolphinarium is located on the waterfront.

Gurzufskaya embankment

The resort town is unthinkable to imagine without the waterfront. Crowds of tourists arriving here, for obvious reasons, first choose this route. First you want to see the sea, breathe in the sea air, feel this sand soaked with sunny happiness of carelessness with your feet.

The embankment in Gurzuf is unique in that it is lined with marble tiles that sparkle with pink and white highlights in the sun. In the evening, when the southern city seems to be covered with darkness in an instant, the embankment is especially charming and romantic. Tours are greeted by luminaries of clubs, oblique arrows of lanterns - you can go for a walk here until the morning. By the way, the embankment bears the name of A.S. Pushkin, although more often it is called simply Gurzufskaya.

An interesting fact: many people remember how for three whole months at the end of the 70s, the embankment was a concert venue of the Soviet legend - the Time Machine group.

Traditional resort trade is conducted here, as it should - magnets, shells, various souvenirs and swimsuits are sold here actively. Numerous children's attractions are located under the cypresses, so kids will definitely have no time to be bored.

Restaurants, coffee shops, cafes - all for tourists who drop in here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here you can ponozhalgirovat, buying children (and myself, too) cotton candy from the Soviet childhood. And you can eat here local boiled crayfish.

Beach

There are several beach areas in Gurzuf: they are different in area and infrastructure. There are very narrow coastal stripes, but even here you can see the wonders of nature - for example, the tsunami cloud wall approaching Ayu-Dag.

Beaches have numeral names, although many call them the same old ones. For example, Comet is a spacious general purpose beach with changing rooms, sun beds and umbrellas for hire. There are also some public beaches with a wide coastline, loaded in the season: there are many paid loungers and bedding. But the entrance to the sea is convenient, flat, small pebbles.

The beaches of Charm and Jaco 2007 tourists emit especially: order, civilized recreation, even VIP zones. You can get to the sanatorium beaches only by passes, although there are craftsmen who can get here.

The choice is great, for every whim there is a beach. And without it, you can say, you were not at sea.

What can be seen in the area?

Rest can be completely entrusted to the tour desk, you can partially plan it yourself. If you are relaxing in Gurzuf, you will certainly want to take a walk in its surroundings. For example, many people want to see the very, legendary camp Artek. Once on its territory was located Suuk-Su's land ownership, where the Soviet intelligentsia rested. Evenings with dancing, playing roulette - a bohemian holiday. The palace was destroyed, but then it was restored and given to Artek. Today there is a cosmonautics museum, a library and, of course, the Artek history museum.

By the way, the initiator of the creation of the museum of cosmonautics was Yuri Gagarin himself, whose name, in fact, was the object. Here you can see the spacesuit Leonov and a copy of the Lunokhod in real size. One of the halls is the space pioneer room.

It makes sense, no doubt, to go for a walk in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden, which is 9 km from Gurzuf. A green labyrinth, an exhibition of butterflies, an exhibition of orchids - and this is only a small part of the program that awaits every guest of the park. You will need at least three hours to call the walk complete.

Finally, you can always go to Yalta, Alupka, Sevastopol, which in one way or another are not so far from Gurzuf.Crimea still seduces tourists. You shouldn’t compare this holiday with the European one, because each place is interesting in its own way, historically attractive in its own way, it has the atmosphere that invites you to come back here again.
