More and more tourists instead of abroad are exploring their native spaces. And this is not surprising: security, native speech, reasonable prices (especially after the growth of the dollar), familiar food and culture - all this speaks in favor of rest in the south of the country. We acquaint with one of the most popular tourist places of the Crimea - the resort Small Lighthouse, not yet so famous and filled with vacationers, but with its own special charm.

Description of the village

Maly Mayak is a popular resort located in the south of Crimea. This paradise is located at the foot of Mount Ai-Todor. The nearest popular locations are Alushta (10 km), Utyos, Bondarenkovo, Chaika, Cypress. Now about 2,500 people live in the village.

During the season, the population of the town increases several times, thanks to the lovers of the local sea and the southern Crimean generous sun.

Small Lighthouse has a rich history, which many of us do not even realize. In ancient times, there was a large settlement founded by the Greeks. In ancient sources, it was known as Skimna or Lanbat Ball. Here were located the churches of St. Theodore and St. Michael, and even the feudal castle. The settlement became a major port city of Biyuk-Lambat when the Turks captured it.

An interesting thing - Biyuk-Lambat is translated from the Tatar language as “big lighthouse”.

Mainly the Tatars lived here, the main occupations of which were fishing and agriculture. The well-known Russian scientist, founder of the Russian Geographical Society, P. I. Koeppen founded the Karabakh estate in 1829.

As a resort, the Small Lighthouse began to develop in the XIX century. Russian aristocrats began to build here villas and estates for summer holidays, and also rented small houses by the sea. For example, now you can see the well-preserved Rajewski Manor, which is an architectural monument. Thanks to the active development, new roads appeared, parks with exotic plants, gardens, alleys and even vineyards were created. The infrastructure of the southern resort grew.

In 1945, after the deportation of the Crimean Tatars, Biyuk-Lambat was renamed Maly Mayak.

Weather

Stability and softness - this is what characterizes the weather in Maly Mayak. It pleases those who are going to rest in the village. Thanks to the ideal weather conditions, the tourist season begins in May and ends in October. Summer gives sunny and dry days.

An important feature is the almost complete absence of dust.

The probability of rain is minimal (therefore, an umbrella can be left at home). But even if it happens, everything dries out very quickly. Such ideal conditions attract thousands of tourists annually. The peak of heat comes at the end of July (the temperature rises to +33 degrees), but it is easy to endure due to the peculiarities of the climate.

The village of Ai-Todor protects the village from strong winds. Winter is like late autumn; there is no snow and frost here. Autumn is windy and it rains, but it is warm. Clean and fresh air, low humidity, sea salt strengthen the immune system and contribute to the speedy recovery after illness.

At this resort, everything contributes to a cure for diseases such as:

  • allergy;
  • problems with the nervous system;
  • diseases of the respiratory system;
  • diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

Where to stay?

For a holiday in Maly Mayak, you can choose housing for every taste and budget:

  • hotels (the most popular ones are “Santa Barbara”, “Argo”, “Fortuna”, “Al-Marin”);
  • hotels and pensions, located along the entire length of the beach;
  • apartments;
  • cottages.

Resorts and hotels offer quality Crimean service, tasty and healthy food, swimming pools and medical procedures. Shuttle service and guided tours are also available.

Due to the fact that the village is located a short distance from the sea (3 km), prices will be low. However, hotels on the seashore will cost a bit more expensive (but cheaper in any case than in Alushta).

The most attractive, in terms of price, is the private sector. You can rent a room, apartment or a small house. Villas, boathouses and luxury apartments will provide a more comfortable environment. Owners of private houses provide a decent standard of living:

  • spacious accommodation with a good repair;
  • playgrounds;
  • quality service.

In the Small Lighthouse there is everything you need for a good rest:

  • grocery stores;
  • pharmacy;

  • restaurants;
  • Postal office;
  • ambulatory;
  • souvenir shops;
  • library;

  • Separated mountain Paragilmen, on top of which two powerful yew trees are waiting for you, which are the "highlight".
  • Unusual and very beautiful Cape Plaka, rising to the top of which you can enjoy the gorgeous views of the Black Sea coast.

The peculiarity of the cape is that on the one hand it is emerald green, and on the other there is no greenery at all.

  • Park Karabakh created by the founder of the Russian Geographical Society, passionately in love with Crimea, Peter Ivanovich Köppen. Here you can spend the whole day admiring exotic plants.
  • Stone chaos Kuchuk-Lambat - randomly scattered huge stones. Bed, Monk, Gel Kai, Soldier Bread - the names of some stones. Such a beauty created a landslide in 1786.
  • Bird's rocks. You will be able to see in reality these small groups of islands, and not only in the film “The Diamond Hand” by Gaidai.
  • The legendary mountain Ayu-Dag (or Bear Mountain).
  • Palace Karasan Count Rajewskibuilt in moorish style. Near the palace is a beautiful park, where you can see about 200 species of various exotic plants. Famous Russian writers and poets often came to the estate.
  • Beautiful manor of Countess Gagarina - A real monument to the Countess's love for the deceased husband. The magnificent palace, similar to the French castle, is surrounded by a magnificent park with romantic alleys.

Now here is a sanatorium "Cliff".

  • Ak-Chokrak Fountain, which does not dry out in summer.

You can choose excursions on the waterfront. They are conducted by private guides or travel agencies.You can independently go to the nearest resort cities - Alushta, Yalta, Massandra, Gurzuf, and also see the entire South Coast.

How to get there?

You can get to the Small Beacon:

  • on your own car or by taxi.

You can also use public transport - bus or trolley - on the beautiful highway "Yalta - Simferopol", which passes 2.5 kilometers from the village. Coming out on the highway at the “Small Lighthouse” stop, walk 30 minutes down the road and here it is, a wonderful sea.

Reviews

Not only domestic, but also foreign tourists come to rest in the Small Lighthouse. They appreciate the resort:

  • magnificent nature;
  • low prices;
  • the cleanest warm sea;
  • favorable climatic features;
  • the opportunity to relax at any time of the year (not only in summer).

People who have health problems (especially bronchopulmonary, allergic and neurological diseases) choose a village for combining the pleasant with the useful - and rest and improve their health. This helps the healing coniferous air.

Fans of sights, too, are satisfied with a large number of beautiful old architectural structures.

Romantics and loving couples post photos of magnificent sunsets and sunrises on Instagram.

Active and sports holidaymakers mark the conditions created for keeping themselves in shape - mountain sports, a large number of hiking mountain paths.

          A bit overshadows the rest:
          • lack of entertainment (there are no discos, nightclubs);
          • too steep road from the village to the sea (too hard to climb on foot);
          • not always quality service.

          However, if you decide to go to the Crimea, the rest will be by and large pleasant.
