Each guest of the peninsula will be able to choose for themselves a suitable leisure option: a metropolis “seething” with life on the seashore, or a quiet beach away from the city rush.

Settlement history

A wonderful place for a relaxing holiday is the village of Marino of the Black Sea region of the Crimean Republic. Guests of the peninsula will appreciate the wide sandy beach between the clear sea azure and steep cliffs.

The small village of Marino is located in the western part of the Crimean peninsula, on the picturesque Cape Tarakhankut. It is a member of the Okunev village council together with the village of the same name, Okunevka. The distance to the district center of the town of Chernomorskoe is 20 km, the nearest town with the railway station is Evpatoria (83 km), the distance to the airport in Simferopol is 140 km.

But the distance from the benefits of civilization does not reduce the positive qualities of this area.

Until 1948, this place bore the name of Jan-Baba and was part of Tarkhansk district. Later, the village joined the Evpatoria County. In 1842, Jan-Baba was part of the Yashpety volost and was considered a small village (less than five courtyards). Before the Crimean War, about 16 inhabitants lived in the village, who were emigrated in the post-war period.

By 1887, the settlement began immigrants from Ukraine, and by 1926 the population of the village was 73 people. In 1948, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, Jan-Baba was renamed Maryino.

Currently, Marino has a residential private sector consisting of 19 streets, and the population is about 100 people. In the summer, the number of residents increases due to the "influx" of tourists. The village has a small shop, a bus service with the regional and regional centers, nearby cities.

In Marino, as well as on the most part of the peninsula, the Mediterranean climate prevails with the maximum number of sunny days, and the steppe winds only add a little freshness in the hot period. The average air temperature is 28 degrees Celsius, and water has an indicator of + 24 degrees.

The village itself is located on Cape Tarahankut, which is considered one of the cleanest and most picturesque areas of the Crimea. Near there are no production facilities and ports, so nature has retained its original beauty. The plateau of the cape ends in the sea and forms amazingly beautiful rocks, complemented by mysterious grottoes and caves.

Among the rocky shores are equipped with comfortable descents to the water and beaches in the lagoons. The coastline of the village is not wide, represented by a sand and pebble mixture. The sea is clean and alive. Here you can see a lot of different fish, bottlenose dolphins, crabs, rapana, jellyfish.

The main attraction of the village Marino is a wide and clean white sand beach resembling a wild tropical coast. It is 800 meters from the village and spreads out for several kilometers.

For unusual beauty and expanse of the locals often call this area Maldives.

It is worth noting that there is no infrastructure on the Mariinsky beach, however, for lovers of solitude and quiet rest, this is not a hindrance. Descent into the water gentle and smooth - This is a big plus for families with small children. Sunbathing on the beach can be lying on the soft sand or on a towel.Sometimes algae bring waves to the shore, because of which there can be a specific odor in the air, but they do not cause any special inconvenience to tourists.

Crystal-clear and transparent water, as well as a large variety of marine life attracts many vacationers to snorkel or dive. In local diving clubs at Cape Tarahankut experienced instructors will instruct and provide the most interesting and memorable walk under water. There are many interesting places along the coast at different depths: from stone-sand reefs, grottoes and caves to the underwater museum “Avenue of Chiefs”, sunken ships and airplanes.

Accommodations

Until recently, the village of Marino had a poorly developed infrastructure, but the popularity of this area contributed to the emergence of new guest houses, mini-hotels, shops, cafes. Depending on the financial possibilities, vacationers are provided with a variety of accommodation options: cozy rooms, comfortable cottages and other amenities. Most vacationers choose the private sector to rent housing from local residents.

In addition to the tourist business, local residents of the village are engaged in agriculture, so almost all the products in the stores (vegetables, fruits, dairy products, eggs, meat, fish) are home-made and at an affordable price.
