Cape Opuk in Crimea: what to see and where is located?

Description
Cape Opuk, which is located in the Crimea, appeared in the late twentieth century. It is located in the south of the Kerch Peninsula.
The area occupied by the reserve is 1592.3 hectares. For the preservation and development of steppe natural complexes this area was recognized as a reserve in May 1998.
Also there are such objects as:
- Opuk (cape and mountain);
- Lake Koyashskoe (he has a beautiful pinkish color);
- Priozernaya mountain (rises 45 meters);
- Rocks-ships.
The mountain has an oblong shape, and it is covered with the rarest vegetation. This array smoothly flows into the cape, which ends with a cliff. In the south, the mountains are rocks, and in the north - a grassy slope.
Flora and fauna of the reserve
The protection zone was designed to preserve these worlds of the southern region of the Kerch Peninsula. There are more than 750 varieties of all kinds of plants. Approximately half of the world of flora - representatives of the vascular type.
In the composition of the flora there are 766 species, among which are:
- 473 species constitute the highest vessels;
- 49 - mossy;
- 113 - lichens;
- 214 - of the way.
The composition of endemics include 48 species of vascular plants. Of these, 23 species are rare and listed in the Red Book.
In springtime, bright Schrenk tulips appear there. In the summer, the growth of the feather grass begins, and in the fall - the bluegrass of the seaside.
Opuk nature reserve in terms of fauna has more than 1000 species. Spineless animals account for approximately 80%.
Rare specimens of fish live in the adjacent waters, as well as dolphins (bottlenose dolphins and Azovka), of which not much remains.
A large number of birds live in the area and in the surrounding area. Many birds nest here, 100 species - migratory, 34 - are experiencing winter on the coast, 32 species are listed in the Red Book (for example, black-headed bunting, long-nosed cormorant).
In the conservation area for a long time and to this day the rarest rosy starlings have made their nests. This species has a very good genetic memory. Since ancient times, these birds fly to the mountain slopes. In recent years, the population of these interesting birds in the protected zone has increased.
Most of the animal world here is invertebrates. There are very large and beautiful butterflies, such as bears and hawk moths. In quiet and secluded places bats inhabit.
On Cape Opuk a large number of birds, and therefore scientists gave it the name of the kingdom of birds. School representatives here lay eggs and raise chicks.
But the conservation area protects not only land, but also sea water. On the rocks you can meet crabs. One of the most amazing animals is the monk seal. Once it could be seen around the coast, but then it was attributed to the extinct. To date, they have reappeared in small bays near the cape. This mammal is very shy and leads a solitary life.
Cape Obuca Archaeological Site
This reserve is a natural and archaeological noteworthy Crimea.When excavations were made, the ruins of an ancient town were found at the foot of the mountain. Also, the city of Kimmerik is a scientific and historical value.
A few kilometers from the cape are located "Rocks-ships" (Elken-Kaya). They were formed from four islands of limestone rock. One of the largest rocks has a height of twenty meters above sea level. This name rocks received due to the fact that they have the shape of a sailboat. Pigeons, swifts and cormorants build their nests there.
Near the reserve there is a crystal clear sea. It is ideal for diving under water. There you can admire the beauty of the underwater world and its inhabitants.
Features of the Opuksky Nature Reserve
The territory of this object is protected by the state, and therefore is independently there is strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule provides for a fine. And not because it is a reserved place, but for the reason that a military training ground is located here.
To get to this place is possible only if you will be part of an organized excursion, which are conducted by researchers. But still some unscrupulous people break the rules and visit this place on their own. Visitors to the reserve can try only three trails: "Between the sea and the lake", "Opuk tract", "Coastal". If you wish, you can sign up for a tour and explore all the places of interest, and at the same time admire their beauty.
A visit to the reserve provides a small fee, only 200 rubles. For certain categories of citizens there are discounts. Not far away is a tent camp. There can make a stop and relax everyone. It is forbidden to litter in this place, after all it is necessary to clean everything up. And if you do not, you can get a fine.
In the event that you do not want to spend the night in tents, you can simply rent a house. Nearby there are villages where local rent rooms at a low price. Also in the village Yakovenkovo there is a recreation center where you can stay.
How to get to Cape
Since the territory has a chance to get only as part of the tour, you can sign up for it in the nearby cities (Kerch and Feodosia).
If you do not want to visit the conservation area, you can see the surrounding area, as there is also beautiful. And the easiest way to do this is to go by bus from the bus station in the city of Kerch. Enough to take the bus, which follows the route "Kerch - Maryevka." You can reach your car on the same road. The distance is only 35 km.
Weather features
The summer period is very hot, but due to the sea breeze, the heat is not felt so strongly. If you like to relax in peace and tranquility, then wild beaches are perfect for you. There you can swim and sunbathe. For such a holiday there is better to go in August or September.
Legends of the Opuksky Reserve
There is a legend about this beautiful place, which tells that the world snakes inhabit the sea. And many people say that they have seen a monster in waters whose size reaches several meters. But the head of this unknown animal everyone saw different - who is the hare, who is the dog, there were a lot of other options.
A couple of years ago, a man plunged into the water to explore the flooded tunnels of ancient quarries. And during this time he was attacked by a very large creature, which had an oblong snake-shaped body. With a man was a camera, he was not taken aback, and took off what was happening action. Then these fragments were shown to specialists, and they determined who it was. And it was a representative of a rare species of gray seals. But the people who saw him greatly exaggerated the size of the animal.
