Mount Shaan-Kaya in the Crimea: what is remarkable and how to get there?

However, as a reward for their unusual choice and their courageous deeds, tourists, jumpers and travelers find unforgettable impressions that remain with them for life.

One of the most favorite places for such a pastime is the peninsula of Crimea. Every lover of active leisure and various tourist hobbies will find here something interesting for themselves.

This is a unique rock that has gained deserved popularity among tourists and all sorts of exploration travelers. This mountain was fairly compared to El Capitan from the USA, since with their slant in the opposite direction these two peaks are quite similar to each other. In addition, the name of this mountain is often shortened for simplicity to one more clear and familiar word for all - Shanghai.

At all times, the ascent of this mountain was considered a difficult task, especially if we talk about the southern part of it - just there and there is a cliff. For a successful expedition, completed by climbers, they were even awarded gold medals as the best athletes in their field. It was the first ascent, and it lasted 7 days, but today the mountain was “settled down”, and now there are a lot of routes, they are all of different degrees of difficulty.

Thanks to the ledge, which due to the whim of nature tilted above the rest of the rock, the Shaan-Kaya mountain has become a desirable place for lovers of dump jumping. So called jumping down from a great height. As an insurance lovers of such hobbies use elastic stretching rope.

It turns out that a person fastens a rope on a ledge from which he jumps, prepares and spends a few seconds in free flight, enjoying a breathtaking view and feeling of free fall. When the rope is fully stretched in length, the ropejumper with its weight pulls on it, and after that it jumps back a little and hangs on the rope until the people at the top of the mountain lift the athlete back. This is an activity for extreme lovers.

Jumping these - a very interesting exercise, which throws a considerable amount of adrenaline into the blood. However, there are hiking routes to the mountain, they are better suited for people who love long hikes. There are routes of the most diverse complexity and the necessary amount of time. I.e, for tourist mountaineering, this very same mountain can be used by both beginners and professionals and seasoned tourists.

There are actually several routes, and the variability is so great that it is possible to get to each of them from different locations. The first one starts with the stop "Nursery". Another one of the most popular ways is at the Pozharka stop. If you want to get from one station to another, from one route to another, you can use the shuttle bus.

These paths lead on different sides of the rock, moreover, they go on opposite sides of the mountain, but for the prepared person there are few difficulties for the prepared person. That is, these routes can be used by amateurs. If you search, you can find a whole map with symbols of various paths - both convenient and simple, and very complex. One of the most popular is called "Jew", short for "Jewish Trail." It is marked on the map with a special color and is considered to be the main grounded road suitable for a hike.

There are large lakes, and there are small ones so that they do not even get their own name, but they look no less wonderful than older brothers. However, some sources report an existing name for a Crimean landmark that we are talking about. The name of this reservoir is Kasimovskiy.

One of the main features of this lake, which is located near the cliff, is a beautiful view. It opens to the panorama from the mountain. Due to the fact that the lake is located in a natural reserve zone, which means that it is protected by the state, pollution and changes in the biosphere are minimal there.

At first glance it may seem that with its height parameters the mountain does not beat any records. It is believed that it is about 250 meters high. But do not forget that we are talking about a particular rock, a lump among the mountains, which does not exist separately from the rest. Of course, Shaan-Kaya stands on a considerable elevation among the mountain relief. From the very top to the surface of the sea will be as much as 871 meters. Almost a kilometer of height, and more than a hundred kilometers of visibility into the distance in clear weather!

Since we are dealing with a warm and humid climate, as well as a decent height, it is useful to remember some rules. Do not visit these places during the cold seasons. You should not climb the mountain before May or in autumn in the middle of October. In this case, you will not only freeze - because the wind on the mountain is incredibly strong, but you also risk falling under heavy snow or not avoiding its consequences.

In the cold season, snow accumulates on the mountain up to 3 meters. And it lays there until the hottest days, until it thaws at all under the warm sunshine. Bring warm clothes with you, even in summer. This is exactly the thing you need when going to Shahan Kai. The winds there are strong and rather cool.
