Husky is considered one of the oldest breeds, bred by the peoples of Siberia in the Neolithic period. The breed was recorded at the beginning of the 20th century by American canines. Such dogs, such as the Chukchi and Eskimos, moved these dogs along the snow-covered valleys by sledding. The blood of wild wolves flows in the veins of this breed. Later, the breed was mixed with fast sled dogs, when there was a demand for sledding competitions, and people needed to increase the speed of their pets.
Features
Sledding with the use of Siberian Huskies has gone down in history, and in the last century you can more often meet representatives of this breed in urban environments. They are used as companion dogs or as exhibition dogs. Entertainment in the ethno-cultural complex “Husky Park”, where you can get acquainted with this breed and ride a sled, also became popular.
This type of dog is different special endurance and strength, they are able to overcome long distances and not experience fatigue. But in the care they are picky enough. Huskies should spend enough energy daily, breeders recommend walk pets at least 3 hours, walks should be 2-3 per day.
It is also advisable to take them to special trainings created to bring up the wayward nature of the dogs and to spend enough energy for them. With insufficient power loads, dogs can send an excess of energy into the destructive channel: gnawing shoes, furniture, showing aggression, and being in a nervous state.
The color of the dogs is different. There are individuals with completely white wool or black, as well as spotty, cream, peach and gray.
Husky are gregarious dogs, but can exist alone. Despite their beauty and mischievous appearance, each dog has its own emotional characteristics. But most of them combine the following characteristics:
- love of freedom, love for large and open spaces;
- hunting instincts, but they appear only when educated;
- stubbornness and self-will;
- propensity to manipulate for personal gain (for example, if you want to get delicacies);
- highly developed intelligence, the ability to perceive facial expressions and emotions of a person.
This breed is not suitable for protection. Despite their high intelligence, pets are very gullible and often become victims of thefts and deception by strangers. Huskies have a special friendliness and get along well with children. The teams understand perfectly, but sometimes they stubbornly show their temper and fight for leadership in the “pack”, trying to dominate the host.
Eye color
The eyes of the Husky breed are brown, blue and amber, and there are also representatives with different eye color. This feature, not harmful to the health of the eye and not related to pathologies, manifested in cows, cats, and less often in humans. This deviation is called - heterochromia. This is an imbalance of the pigment - melanin, responsible for the color of the iris. Fortunately, this deviation is not considered a marriage of a breed, on the contrary, Huskies with different eye colors are called Harlequins.
Choosing between blue-eyed or brown-eyed representatives of the species, dog experts advise to choose the second.
Brown-eyed dogs are believed to be more resistant to disease, but many people take blue-eyed dogs for their keen and stern look.
Heterochromia can manifest itself in different ways: by painting the left or right eye partially in blue or brown.For example, you can meet a representative of the breed Husky with brown eyes, with blue spots and vice versa.
Multi-colored eyes can be both innate and acquired. It is difficult to determine what color the eyes of the husky puppies will be, the formation of the color of the iris occurs in certain months of life (approximately 3-4 months). At birth, all puppies have dark eyes, so it is impossible to establish whether the pet has heterochromia at birth.
Also, melanin can change its concentration if the puppies become sick with something or it can be a side effect of the drugs during treatment. Eyed Huskies have an interesting face, each half of which carries its own emotion.
Pigmentation can occur in the nose, which is also not considered a deviation. White spots on a dark nose or, on the contrary, dark on white indicates an imbalance of skin pigment, but this does not affect the health or character of the pet.
Social life
Friendly by nature, husky are perfect for families with small children. They are very reverent and patient about the manifestations of babies and can even take them under their care.
These dogs are gregarious creatures, so they will be happy with a company of animals, they will be able to make friends with dogs of completely different breeds and get along well with cats, they can take kittens under their care. Despite the lack of guard qualities Huskies can be jealous of those who are considered part of their pack and protect them.
Another big plus of this breed is they don't bark. They have a very interesting voice timbre. Huskies are known to “sing”, howl and yelp.
Due to their mental abilities, they are trained, but in the process there must be an element of the game. They need to be interested, it is desirable to teach dogs to the original purpose - something to drag. This can be a bike, ski, sleigh with children and the like.
It is better to start dressing with six months and repeat all exercises systematically 10-15 times in 2-3 days. At the same time, it is necessary to exclude corporal punishment, because the Huskies are very stubborn and may, in spite of all, stop meeting you, and the whip method will lead to the opposite consequences. They should often be distracted and encouraged by treats.
