Lambkin: breed description, feeding and care

Many breeders dream of a miniature and unpretentious pet, with whom you can play and quietly leave unattended for a couple of hours. That such an animal is a lambkin cat. This is a smart and curly friend who looks like a tiny lamb. In addition, these cats adore their owners and faithfully serve them throughout their lives.

Lambkin is a rather rare and young breed of dwarf cats. She was bred by crossing Munchkin and Selkirk Rex. The breed is already registered with TICA (International Cat Association).

The characteristic features of lambkin are as follows:

• dense body with short elegant limbs;
• wedge-shaped head with protruding ears;
• expressive eyes of blue color; there are also individuals with emerald and orange eyes that are in harmony with the color;
• curly hair with a thick undercoat;
• long, bushy tail.

The raisins of the breed appear with age. For example, kittens are born with proportional legs and straight hair. Finally, curls form only by two years of animal life. Representatives of the breed can be shorthair and longhair. The main feature of lambkins is their constant "childhood".

Miniature "lambs" have wool of different colors. There are several variants of colors.

1. Solid. "Fur" cat is monotonous, without inclusions.
2. Smoky or silver. The fur of the animal has a light shade base, and the tips of the hairs are dark.
3. Tortoiseshell. This color is characterized by the presence of three colors on the pet's coat. Tortoise Lambkin looks especially impressive.
4. Bicolor Cats have a white color. Usually, the breasts, paws and belly of the lamb are snow white.

All colors of the Lambkin breed are beautiful and original, which makes the pet even more unique and in demand among breeders.

Lambkins - charming pets with a docile disposition. They feel sympathy for all family members and try in every way to please them. For the breed is characterized by increased curiosity and craving for mobile games. Curly babies remember different teams well and love to respond to the name. Respect the rules that are set in the apartment, and do not show aggression towards children.

The most important in the maintenance of this breed is to care for the elegant coat of the animal. For example, in order for the fur of cats of silver color to not lose an amazing shine, it must be washed using special shampoos, including dry shampoos. For the prevention of mats, the animal's hair is regularly combed out (preferably every other day). For lambkin haircuts, a professional hand is required.

At home, shortening the fur of a miniature pet is problematic. In addition, a rare breed breeder should monitor the pet's health. The fact is that cats are prone to diseases of the spine due to their short limbs. The back muscles simply can not cope with the load, and the spine flexes, starting to put pressure on the lungs and heart. Another disadvantage of lambkins is congenital deformity of the chest. This defect will help determine the specialist.

Also important is the hygiene of the ears and eyes. If the kittens begin to "cry", then the owner is better to stock up on special drops.

From the first days of the appearance of the curly kitten in the house, the breeder needs to get a claw. She will help your pet:

• grind down claws naturally;
• relieve stress;
• leave a mark (for rituals, this ritual is especially important for cats, since they naturally have to “mark” the territory).

Like other dwarf breeds, the lambkin needs good nutrition, on which the beauty of wool (especially silver color) and the activity of the animal depend. In the food of cats should be dominated by protein (fresh lean meat). You can also feed lambs with rice and buckwheat cereals, fish products and boiled vegetables.
