Thanks to its amazing qualities, balance, ingenuity and unpretentiousness in the care Labrador is one of the most sought after species.
History of origin
The breed was bred on the Canadian islands of Newfoundland in the 19th century. In order to get a hunting breed crossed a small Newfoundland, Setter, Foxhound, Retriever. Dogs got to Russia only at the end of the 20th century and immediately gained incredible popularity. The standard parameters of the breed were recorded at the end of the 19th century, when the officially recognized suit was black. At the very beginning of the 20th, dog experts made changes to the standard, adding chocolate and fawn suits to the number of possible ones.

Maintenance and care
Despite the fact that the Labrador is a rather large dog, it can be safely kept not only in a private house, but also in an apartment. Before you bring your baby home, you need to provide him with everything you need: bowl for food and water, toys, bed, collar, leash. The most important condition is daily walking, and walks must take place actively: the dog must be given plenty to run. After all vaccinations are put down, the puppy is socialized, given to contact with other pedigreed animals, he should see people, get used to them. Labradors love to swim, in the warm season they can be taken to the reservoirs so that they spill enough.
Caring for this breed is not too complicated, although the light shade of wool is quite soiled and causes some inconvenience to the owners. While walking, such dogs often get dirty, they have to be locally washed and their wool cleaned from stains and dirt. Shorthair breed does not eliminate the need for combing. It is better to teach a puppy to this from the first months of life, using a rubber brush. Labradors are combed out 2-3 times a week, during the molt period - daily.
In addition to getting rid of wool, this procedure has other advantages: massage, improving blood circulation.
It is important to monitor the condition of the eyes, ears and teeth of the dog. Eyes are rinsed with special solutions at least once a week, you need to inspect them for the presence of inflammation or tearing daily. The ears are also regularly inspected and cleaned as necessary. Once a couple of weeks, the auricles gently remove excess sulfur, use cotton swabs and hydrogen peroxide. Once a month, the dog needs to brush its teeth with a special paste and brush, and periodically bones with fluorine are also bought for the pet.
If you notice inflammation, pus, bleeding gums, bad breath from your mouth - need to show the animal to the vet.
It is also necessary to trim the claws of the animal in time, this is done of necessity, since claws can be ground in a natural way. This should be done with a special kogterezki.

How to choose a puppy?
Since the breed is very common in Russia, finding a nursery or breeder with a good reputation is not difficult. The main thing - to abandon the idea to buy a puppy from the hands on the market. There you can buy either a sick dog, rejected, or another breed with external similarity. Acquiring a puppy is a very important step; it must be treated very carefully and responsibly. When choosing, pay attention to the following points:
- the best puppies are from working lines: such dogs have a healthy psyche, there are no genetic problems;
- availability of documents (veterinary passport with an indication of all vaccinations made, inspections), otherwise there is a risk to buy a puppy with dysplasia;
- the quality and achievements of parents, their state of health;
- you should not buy an animal in kennels where dogs are kept in cages: they are very sociable, therefore such a lifestyle is detrimental to the quality of the breed, causes deviations in the psyche;
- the puppy's mother may bark a little, but rather quickly allows her to approach the puppies, if this does not happen, there is reason to doubt her psyche;
- healthy puppies are active, curious, well come into contact, not afraid;
- external examination should not reveal pus, redness, wounds, inflammations.
A good breeder himself asks many questions and willingly answers yours, this shows his interest in the fate of the baby and the fact that he has nothing to hide. They will always talk about all the flaws. If you hear only laudatory odes and the breeder has no doubts whether you should give the dog away, then you should once again study the reviews about him.
