In the process of creating a manicure, sometimes it happens that the varnish is spilled, and its drops fall on the surrounding surfaces, including the carpet. The situation is unpleasant, but it can be corrected using various means for cleaning.
Fresh spots
If the carpet is expensive and the stain is large, then it is better not to risk it and go to dry cleaning. But the carpet can be large or impossible to remove without moving heavy furniture. In this case, you have to act yourself. Remove nail polish from the carpet is easier if the stain is fresh. If the varnish has spilled a lot, you will first need to remove its excess with a metal or plastic flat object. For this purpose, you can use a regular spoon. Only it must be thoroughly cleaned of varnish before each touch to the carpet, in order to prevent an increase in the size of the stain.
Do not hesitate, as the pile of the carpet begins to actively absorb spilled drops. In addition, some types of varnishes rather quickly thicken.
To remove the remaining stain, use a tool that dissolves the varnish well. Typically, this task perfectly cope traditional nail polish remover. A liquid without acetone is more benign, but it is not always effective. Modern nail polish removers often contain additives that change the color of the composition, and it can be quite saturated. Colored fluids for light carpets should not be used. Acetone will give the best results, but it may be too aggressive both to the color and to the carpet pile itself.
In any case, regardless of the means used, it is necessary to conduct a test on a barely noticeable part of the floor covering.
If the test reveals no problems, the product is applied to a clean rag or piece of cotton and gently blot the soiled nap. It is not worth rubbing a dirty place in order not to increase its area. The process is quite long, especially if the bright lacquer left a mark on the light carpet. Pouring the product onto the carpet should not be: this will contribute to the expansion of the pollution area. In addition, the fluid can damage the base of the carpet. To facilitate the work, it is recommended to periodically moisten the stain with water: it will not allow the contamination to dry out. You can finish cleaning with soapy water or a special carpet cleaner.
For white carpets, hydrogen peroxide can be used. It is mixed with water in a ratio of 1/1 and moisten the area to be cleaned with the resulting solution. Then the carpet must be dried and fluffed pile. You should know that hydrogen peroxide cannot be used for colored carpets due to the whitening effect of the composition. You can try to clean the dark carpet with hairspray. It should be sprayed on the stain, pre-abundantly moistened with water, and wait for 0.5-1 minute, and then wipe the villi with a napkin. You can also apply alcohol to a cotton pad and wipe off the stain.
As the wipes and discs become dirty, they should be replaced with clean ones.
Old footprints
Old stains will require some more effort. However, in this case there are quite effective ways. On some types of materials varnish can simply scrape off the villi. If the varnish is not too deeply absorbed, and the pile coat is long and thick, then you can try to carefully cut off the pollution. With a large spot this should not be done: it will be very noticeable.
An old stained stain can also be wiped off with nail polish remover. To it, if there is at hand, add alcohol. An abundantly moistened area with water is applied with a nail polish remover (with alcohol) in a small amount. After a while, the lacquer begins to loosen, and it must be carefully removed with a thick brush. For this purpose, suitable old toothbrush. The bristles of the brush should not slide over the surface of the stain. To clean the varnish should be a movement from the bottom, from the base of the carpet, up. The brush should be cleaned after each contact with the carpet.
The performed manipulations do not always allow to completely cope with the problem. Acetone or refined gasoline will help to finally wash away a very stubborn stain. Before using them, it is imperative to conduct a test: they can wash the paint off the carpet. It should be noted that the cleaning procedure should be carried out with a good flow of fresh air, since prolonged inhalation of vapors of acetone-containing liquids cannot be considered useful.
You can try to remove the stain with the help of special cleaning products, a wide range of which is offered in hardware stores. However, you need to carefully read about their purpose and properties. This information is usually contained on the packaging.
When using these chemicals should strictly follow the instructions.
From improvised means you can try to use the wiper. Glass-cleaning liquids are generally neutral to the color of the carpet and do not damage its nap. The product is applied for contamination and left for 2–3 minutes. Then you need to wipe the stain with a rag or cotton swab. Complete the procedure by rinsing with cool water, which is moistened with a clean rag.
