Nowadays, not enough of what the fair sex will come out "in people" without a neat manicure and painted nails. Some prefer to do it in the cabin, others do it themselves, at home. But sometimes when dyeing marigold it happens that the varnish falls on clothes. What can be done to get rid of the stain and not damage the tissue?
How to "save" clothes?
Regardless of whether you dripped onto the fabric with gel polish or ordinary nail polish, the first stage of cleaning will be the same. It includes such actions:
- we take a sponge from cotton wool or an ordinary paper napkin and try to remove the maximum amount of product from the surface of the fabric;
- Further, a wooden toothpick comes into the fight, with which we are trying to clean the inter-fiber space in the matter, where the varnish has already penetrated;
- after that, put the soiled thing on a firm horizontal surface, smooth it out well, put a white cotton fabric under the spot;
- Well, now we will act depending on what kind of thing we have soiled.
Important! Regardless of the type of fabric and the chosen agent, first always try this method on the low-grade part of the product.
How to remove varnish from natural fabric?
Have you soiled varnish on clothes made of cotton, flax or other natural material? This is very annoying, since such things are usually not cheap, and finding them on sale is not that easy. But do not despair - let's try to save a favorite thing with one of the following tools.
- Acetone. Probably the first thing that comes to mind is to remove the varnish with acetone. And for good reason, because this liquid is the safest for the fabric. To remove the varnish stain with it, we take a sponge, moisten it in acetone and gently wipe the fabric. If you managed to get rid of the speck, but there were still stains, you should get them wet with gasoline and sprinkle talcum powder over the top.
- Petrol. Good and as an independent tool in the fight against stains from nail polish. So, we moisten the spoiled piece of fabric in gasoline, leave it for 15 minutes, after which we clean the stain intensively with a clean shred. If necessary, the procedure is repeated.
- Hydrogen peroxide. Especially indispensable when removing stains from white clothes. We take peroxide 3%, cotton pads, begin processing.
- White things can also be scrubbed with bleaching agent. To do this, we moisten a stain in the bleach, leave it for 30-40 minutes, after which the product should be washed off the fabric, rinsing the thing under the tap.
- White Spirit. Also a good proven tool. We saturate them with a cotton disc, firmly press it to the stain, we withstand a quarter of an hour, erase the thing.
After having tried one of the above methods, contaminated clothing should be washed in a washing machine on a regular 30-minute program. If you see that the stain has not left the fabric, repeat the cleaning cycle again, possibly using another tool.
How to wash synthetic clothes?
Synthetics is considered a more delicate fabric than the same cotton. The aforementioned methods for cleaning natural fabrics will not work here, but with almost one hundred percent guarantee they will spoil the thing completely. To clean synthetics, we recommend taking such tools.
- Acetone-free nail polish remover. Pour it on the spot, literally 5-10 seconds wait, we begin to scrub the pollution with a sponge, moving it strictly in one direction. As pollution sponge change.
- There is a recipe for self-manufacturing tools from stains. Take 1 tsp. ammonia, 1 tsp. turpentine, 1 tsp. Olive oil, mix everything well and apply on a speck. Wait 5-7 minutes, remove the mixture with a paper handkerchief or napkin. Wash clothes, repeat the procedure if necessary, but only when the item dries.
Removing varnish from jeans
Jeans are made of a very special fabric. Remember the color of the water after the first wash of your jeans trousers - for sure it was inky blue. So, because of this dyeing of the fabric, it cannot be cleaned with aggressive agents with a whitening effect. You may remove the lacquer, but in its place there will be a bleached stain that you will hardly like more. Therefore, before proceeding to the processing of jeans with anything, try to apply the tool from the wrong side, in an inconspicuous area.
First of all, moisten a spot of varnish with sunflower oil. This will help scrape away any paint residue. Just do it carefully so that there are no scratches and puffs on the clothes. Then proceed depending on the material used to make jeans: if you have pure cotton, use gasoline-clay gruel, and if there is an admixture of lycra - saline.
There is also a universal mixture: mix alcohol with chips of gray soap, warm the mass a little and treat the stain with a sponge.
How to remove dried varnish?
This, of course, is more difficult to do than to erase a fresh stain: the lacquer has already thoroughly eaten into the fibers of the fabric and does not want to part with them. However, use the following algorithm of actions and, perhaps, the thing to save still succeed.
- To begin with, turn the thing out the wrong side up. Take a piece of pure white matter, fold it in several layers. In the absence of such a fabric suitable disposable paper towels. Place this lining strictly under the speck.
- Next, drip a drop of acetone or acetone containing nail polish remover. For accurate processing, use a syringe or pipette. Apply the selected remedy drop by drop, over the entire surface of the spot until it disappears completely.
- Rinse the treated area with water. Reattach the cloth or paper towels. With a cotton pad moistened with a solvent, blot the varnish residues. Repeat the procedure until the sponge staining stops.
- Now take the thing, soak it in the usual laundry detergent, then wash it in the car or on your hands. Rinse thoroughly. Dry outdoors to get rid of chemical odors.
How can I remove the mark from the spot?
If, after all the above-mentioned manipulations, a spot from nail polish did not go away entirely, but a trace remained, Try to use another couple of proven methods.
- Oddly enough, insect repellent can help you. To clear the fabric from the varnish stain, sprinkle on it with the selected spray. Next, wet the tool with an unnecessary toothbrush. Rub the stain well until it dissolves, then rinse under running water. Wash the item in the washing machine by adding a stain remover such as Vanish.
- Wet the sponge in ethyl alcohol. Blot the lacquer stain, then begin to rub it in a circular motion from the edges to the center. Do it from the inside, and put a piece of white matter on the front side. After the disappearance of the stains, wash the thing in the washing machine in the usual mode of washing.
What not to do?
It is clear that if a thing is beloved and expensive, you will want to save it by any means. However, do not rush to extremes and try to clean the varnish stain with everything that comes handy. First of all, specify what fabric the product is sewn from. What is good for cotton is not suitable for synthetics. So, what you should not do in the fight against stains from nail polish on clothes.
- If the varnish gets on a leather or suede thing, do not use any solvents.
- If you chose white spirit as your “savior”, remember that it can provoke an allergy: put rubber gloves and a protective mask on your face, keep antihistamines on hand.
- Under the influence of hydrogen peroxide, a bright thing can fade, and in place of the stain of varnish will remain just a pale spot.
- If the fabric is very capricious - silk, velvet, organza, then do not use any aggressive means. Try to remove the stain with the most gentle methods.
- Do not use vinegar or citric acid. These aggressive agents can not only fix the spot on the surface, but also increase its brightness.
So, all possible means have been tried, but a stain or trace remains. Annoyingly. So what now, as in advertising, send the thing to the link to the cottage? Do not rush to do it. If the thing is really very expensive for you, maybe it makes sense to use the services of a professional dry-cleaner. You will spend a small amount, but get a clean and beautiful thing.
Do not want to go to dry cleaning - well, try an alternative method: mask the spot. Yes, yes, just disguise: sew a beautiful patch, make an original appliqué, pin a brooch in the end. Now is a time when such designer items in clothes look very stylish and modern. Pick a pattern according to your style and carry your favorite thing on.
