The cause of mold on the fabric is not always clear - everything seems to be washed, put into a clean closet, and after a while black spots are surprised to be found. The existence of this fungus does not depend on the quality of your powder at all; improper storage becomes the culprit. The problem of mold must be solved very quickly, otherwise the destruction of the material will continue and it will be impossible to save the clothes. Normal washing is not enough here - you will have to apply additional chemical treatment.

Causes

Very often, the fabric becomes a victim of mold - a fungus that destroys its fibers. Neither cabinets nor cleanliness helps - things are spoiled both synthetic and natural, made from any materials. Mold can be any color, from black to white. Its foci of disease produce an unpleasant smell, change the appearance of the product, destroy the material. and even negatively affect human health. The mold spreads very quickly, so if you do not sound the alarm in time, you can miss a large part of your wardrobe. However, with an operative intervention, a solution to the problem is possible, and the affected things can still be recovered with some effort.

Mold likes moisture, lack of airing and heattherefore, this fungus often occurs when the fabric is not properly used, which has resulted in its being damp and in a warm space. For example, you put things in a closet, do not dry them completely, or store them in a bathroom with a high level of humidity.

The main cause of mold on the fabric is improper storage.

In addition, the following factors can be identified:

  • high humidity indoors;
  • in the cold season the room had a low temperature for a long time;
  • there is no regular cleaning and airing;
  • the house already has pockets of mold: cabinets and other furniture, ceiling or walls.

This is usually black mold - the most common and most dangerous. It has a very strong effect on the human body, causing sleep problems, headache and dizziness, allergies and respiratory diseases.

How to remove stains?

Deciding to get rid of mold at home, the first thing you need to determine the cause of its occurrence. Remove all items from the closet, ventilate them, reassemble, then move away, inspect and wipe the furniture. Having identified the problem, and eliminating it, go to the rescue of things already infected.

Household goods stores sell special mold remedies. But if you do not have too much time, or you need to solve the problem immediately, refer to the tricks of housewives and the experience of the previous generation. In general, the stain removal scheme is universal:

  1. apply the selected agent;
  2. wait for it to dry out;
  3. wash thoroughly in hot water;
  4. rinse and dry.

But do not forget that you should first shake off the existing mold with your hands or a brush, and it should be done not at home, but on the street. Otherwise, you will contribute to the spread of the fungus inside the house. Shake on both sides and as best as possible.

When processing chemicals, do not forget about rubber gloves and a respirator.

With clothes

Spots on a single-colored fabric can be removed using soda, peroxide, ammonia, vinegar essence or laundry soap. Also a universal remedy is considered ascorbic acid, dissolved in medical alcohol or vodka. Use a cloth of your choice, leave it for a while, and then, brushing, wash the product in the usual way.

However, if there are patterns, embroidery or some other decorative elements on your clothes, then the question should be solved more carefully, because Strong means may damage the material. Therefore, first always wipe the small fragment from the inside, and if there is no adverse reaction, then treat the already visible contamination.

Then do not forget to send things to the washing machine to get rid of the smell of "solvent" and fix the result.

For example, the method of removing mold from a jacket using ammonia should be as follows:

  • dissolve ammonia with water in the ratio of 1 to 1;
  • soak a small piece of gauze, cotton wool or sponge in the solution;
  • process the stain;
  • wash in warm water with powder.

If your jacket is made of raincoat fabric, then do not forget about the following rules:

  • processing should occur at a temperature of 30-35 degrees;
  • remove old stains by applying borax and lemon juice. Borax dissolve in hot water, and soak things in the solution.

Children's things are best treated with the most harmless, folk remedies - that is, lemon juice, acetic acid and salt. For example, moisten with lemon juice, wait 5 minutes and sprinkle with salt. After processing the stains, try to put the clothes somewhere on a sunny place until they are completely dry - ultraviolet kills mold spores and, moreover, it creates a bleaching effect.

If the center of infection is small, then use pine oil - it is safe for clothing and eliminates the musty smell. Add it to the car when washing.

Silk and wool are very delicate fabrics, so they need special care. To clean the mold, use turpentine with baby powder, white clay or chalk. If you choose the first option, then, causing the liquid and powder, cover with blotting paper on top and iron iron. Do the same with white clay and crushed chalk.

Silk is best treated with hydrogen peroxide or ammonia.

Velvet or faux fur can not be washed. Treat the material with a dry brush in the direction of the pile, and then send it to a professional dry cleaner. Leather clothes and shoes wipe with a cloth moistened with a solution of alcohol and water in a ratio of 1 to 1.

With bed linen

If your bedding is white, then you can safely apply strong means without fear of burnout:

  1. To remove the mold from it, first pour a spot of hydrogen peroxide and wait half an hour. Then you can wash the sheets and pillowcases in the washing machine and achieve the perfect result.
  2. If you did not manage to wash the mold with peroxide, use onion juice. Cut a couple of bulbs, grind them, squeeze the juice and process the resulting solution to stain.
  3. There is also an option when the slurry is applied to the fabric from a vegetable ground in a blender. Wait forty minutes, and then also send the laundry to the washing machine with detergent.
  4. In addition, white things can be boiled to achieve perfect cleanliness. In addition, mold does not tolerate high temperatures.

For cotton bed linen, there are several more ways to get rid of the mold:

  1. With the help of whey, in which you need to soak the laundry for 12 hours or even overnight, and then traditionally wash.
  2. Old contaminants are often cleaned with sodium hyposulphite solution. The ratio is 1 glass of water and 1 teaspoon of the drug.
  3. Many housewives are used for white pillowcases and sheets "Whiteness". It is necessary to soak in a tissue solution for 24 hours. The ratio is 100 milliliters of “Whiteness” per basin of water.After the fabric is placed in a washing machine with ordinary powder.

It is worth adding that terry sheets are processed in a washing machine with soda and vinegar. Soak time so that the fabric has time to soak in the solution.

With a baby carriage

If an unused wheelchair has lain for a long time in the corridor or a damp garage, then it often reveals traces of black mold that cannot be scrubbed with peroxide or laundry soap. Nevertheless, you can try your luck with some strong household bleaching agent, for example, Domestos. It will remove the stain, but it will not spoil the fabric. Water the contaminated areas, leave for half an hour, and then try to remove the remnants of dirt with a brush and warm water. To chemical odors quickly disappeared, leave the stroller for a couple of days in the fresh air.

If the stain is small, proceed as follows:

  • Moisten the area with vinegar, "Belize" or a solution of ammonia and water;
  • after a few hours, wipe it with a stiff brush, if necessary, moisten the cloth again;
  • dry the cloth;
  • keep the stroller in a dry place. Keep in mind that mold is not afraid of cold, which means that despite the winter, you can not leave the object in a room with high humidity.

Removable parts can be boiled for two hours, or soaked in a solution of antifungal agents and water. If the damaged tissue is rough to the touch and dark in color, try staining with potassium permanganate. Strain the solution from the undissolved elements and then follow the usual algorithm.

The same method is used to remove mold stains from a curtain in a bathroom. Use Pemolux, Domestos, or Vanish and follow the instructions.

With linen tablecloth

To remove mold from a linen tablecloth, usually used simple laundry soap:

  • A piece weighing 50 grams is crushed with fine chips;
  • Then pours into a container with warm water, in which the laundry detergent is already diluted;
  • You rub the stain with laundry soap and then send the tablecloth into the solution for 20-30 minutes;
  • After washing and rinsing it is recommended to bleach the fabric - place it in water in which hydrogen peroxide is dissolved for 15 minutes;
  • The ratio is as follows: 1 liter of water - 1 tablespoon of peroxide.

If your tablecloth is colored, either crushed chalk or ammonium-salt solution is used. In the first case, you cover the pollution with powder, then cover all with napkins and iron it. In the second, you lubricate the damaged area with a solution (1 liter of water — 40 grams of salt, 5 milliliters of sal ammoniac), and then wash and rinse.

Prevention and recommendations

From now on, to prevent the occurrence of mold, adopt following rules:

  • Always dry clothes, tablecloths, duvet covers with high quality before putting them in the closet.
  • At least once every six months, arrange the cleaning in the closet: wipe everything thoroughly with a damp cloth and then leave it to air out. It is also recommended to wipe the walls from the inside with hydrogen peroxide, and outside - with a solution of salt.
  • If possible, dry your clothes outside.
  • Control the level of humidity in the apartment and first of all in the bathroom. Try to lower it.
  • Air more often. If you can not open a window or window, turn on the fan.
  • Use moisture-absorbing bags in your wardrobes — place them between layers of clean laundry.
  • If mold is found on the walls and ceiling, then immediately remove the old wallpaper, plaster and other materials, and disinfect the surfaces.
  • Do not forget about the general cleaning.
  • Take care that the wardrobe is not close to the walls - thanks to a small opening you will create the necessary movement of air.
  • Try not to dry things in the bathroom.
  • Do not keep dirty things with clean ones.
  • If possible, hang clothes on hangers.
  • When the season of wearing clothes is over, you need to wash it, dry it thoroughly and only then put it in the closet.
  • If you iron your clothes before storing, you can destroy mold spores.

Ventilate cabinets often. If you have soiled your clothes with something wet, for example, you have sprayed a jacket with mud, then first wait for it to dry, and then put it in your laundry basket. The same is recommended to do with clothes for the pool: first, you dry the swimsuit and towel, and then send in the wash.
