The use of synthetic fibers in the manufacture of fabrics has become widespread, and the most common material used in weaving is polyester.
Material properties
Polyester is a part of many fabrics and gives them a lot of advantages. The advantages of synthetic material include low cost, resistance to deformation during washing and color fastness. In addition, products made of polyester are not prone to abrasion, do not shed and do not shrink, wash off dirt well and dry quickly.
The fabric is characterized by low weight, uninteresting for the moth and is characterized by low creasing.
Material disadvantages include poor ventilation and low hygroscopicity., due to the rough structure of the fibers of synthetic fabrics. Polyester is actively used for sewing bedding, curtains, bedspreads, windbreakers, dresses, blouses and outerwear.
Despite the low crushability of the material, it is still necessary to iron things from polyester. Synthetic fabrics in general are very demanding for temperature, polyester is also no exception. This causes certain difficulties when ironing and makes you more attentive to the choice of temperature. However, in some cases, the ironing procedure can be avoided altogether. We are talking about proper washing and subsequent drying of products, the competent implementation of which will allow you not to take up the iron.
In order to wash a polyester product according to all the rules, it is necessary not to use water with a temperature above 40 degrees, do not add bleach and soak only with light products.
Machine wash should be performed in a delicate mode, and spin items recommended at lower revs.
Instead of powder, it is preferable to use liquid products. This eliminates the likelihood of an ugly plaque that may turn yellow when ironed. When machine washing large items, such as jackets, coats or down jackets, it is recommended to place them in the drum one by one. Otherwise, the products will fill the entire working volume of the machine, do not stretch and much hesitate.
All outerwear should be turned over to the other side and placed in protective bags. If the jacket has severe contamination of the sleeves and the gate, then before placing them in the drum it is recommended to fasten the stains with a brush.
And also it is necessary to consider that products from polyester are strongly electrified. Therefore, during rinsing it is recommended to add a small amount of antistatic agent to water.
After the clothes are washed, it is removed from the machine, soaked with a dry towel, shaken and hung on the hangers. Polyester skirts should be dried, hanging by a belt, and jackets and coats should be hung in buttoned form. Drying products is recommended away from heating devices, periodically straightening the folds and creases.
If it becomes obvious that some places will not be able to finish, then you should not wait for complete drying. In this case, you need to smooth out the crumpled area with wet hands and send it under the iron.
Ironing rules
Before you start ironing polyester products, you should read the information on the label. Usually, it indicates the recommended temperature mode of ironing, which in no case can be neglected. Otherwise, it is easy to burn a material, spoiling at the same time not only the product, but also the sole of the iron.Ironing mode is indicated on the tags in the form of an iron with points located on it.
A polyester garment label usually has a single dot., indicating that the maximum allowed temperature should not exceed 110 degrees. On many of the factory models on the seamy side there is a small test piece designed to test the temperature conditions of the iron.
If the flap is absent, then the smoothing should be started from barely visible sections of the products located on the wrong side.
In general, polyester products are recommended to be ironed from the reverse side, using wet gauze or dry paper sheet. The absence of direct contact between the soleplate and the synthetic material helps to prevent thermal deformation of polyester products. If the thing is very worn, you can slightly increase the temperature by setting the switch between one and two points. After the iron heats up and the indicator light goes out, you should put a damp cotton cloth on top of the dented area and gently attach the iron to it.
If the crease or the hall does not disappear, it is recommended to wet the product in lukewarm water. and not squeezing hang on a hanger or a clothesline. When a thing dries out a bit, you need to inspect it again for the problem areas. If they still remain, you need to cover the product with wet gauze and repeat the smoothing. Then you need to hang the model on a rope or a hanger, let it hang and dry completely. It usually takes no more than 2-3 hours, after which the item can be put on or removed for storage in a closet.
Steaming
If the iron has a vertical steaming function, or there is a steam generator in the house, wrinkled polyester products can be steamed. To do this, you need to hang the thing on the hanger and carefully level it. If you have to wear a raincoat, coat, windbreaker or jacket, they should be fastened with all buttons, then straighten the lining and pockets. Then the device will need to put on a delicate steaming mode and begin processing the product, moving from top to bottom.
First of all, the front and back parts of the product are usually stripped, after which they are transferred to the sleeves. The stripping should be done very carefully, keeping the device at a distance of 3-5 cm from the surface of the fabric.
With this method, you can not only smooth the caked product, but also revive the colors, as well as save it from unpleasant odor and moderate pollution.
If there are no special steamers, you can use a rather effective folk method. Its essence boils down to the following: in a bathroom or in another small and warm room, a basin or tank with boiling water is installed, or simply poured into a bath. Then over the floating capacity hang things on the shoulders and leave them until the boiling water stops soaring, and the products are not moistened. In the process of active steam formation, it will be necessary to straighten and smooth problem areas, wetting the hands with warm water before that.
The key to success is a tightly closed door in the room and a sufficient amount of steam. If the procedure is carried out in the bathroom, then you can simply open the hot faucet, wait until boiling water starts to run out of it, and leave the water open for 15–20 minutes. Usually this time is enough for the material to be fully wetted and finally finished. Then the clothes will need to be transferred to a dry room and left there for some time to dry.
Strict adherence to the rules of handling polyester, as well as competent and regular care will allow you to keep the original look of your favorite thing for a long time and significantly prolong its life.
