Thermal underwear has recently become a very popular type of clothing. Many use it both for wearing in special climatic conditions, and for everyday wear, for example, for sports. The specificity of the properties of the fabric of this type of clothing makes it necessary to observe special rules for the care of products from thermal materials.
Features
Thermal underwear is intended primarily for sports in the open air, as well as outdoor activities during the cold season. Depending on the composition of the material, thermal underwear can be designed for different degrees of activity and different external temperatures.
The cellular (or cellular) structure of this fabric is capable of combining two seemingly incompatible properties:
- Actively removes moisture from the body. That is why thermal underwear is called the second skin, because it allows the body to breathe. In cold weather, moisture, lingering near the body, leads to additional heat loss, and, as a result, to the cooling of the body. If the sweat through the pores of the fabric leaves the skin surface well, the body does not lose heat. This process allows you to stay in the cold for a longer time without experiencing an unpleasant chill and not being supercooling.
- The fabric of thermal underwear is made in such a way that its certain fibers create something like air gap. This layer, freely letting in excess moisture from the body, retains heat. That is, the heating function.
It is the combination of these two functions of the fabric that allows this type of clothing to warm well in cool weather and even in cold weather. Therefore, it is important not to harm the fabric and not to disturb the structure of such clothes, otherwise its specific properties will simply stop working.
In this case, expensive thermal underwear will not differ from the usual turtleneck or warm tights.
Kinds
The fabric of thermal underwear, depending on its type, may differ slightly in composition and properties. Such differences imply the use of this clothing under various external conditions and under various physical exertion.
According to this principle, there are three types of thermal underwear:
- Linen for a long inactive stay in the cold. The fabric for this type of linen is made on polypropylene or with a layer of polyester. This material is capable of very long and good heat retention, while removing moisture from the body. This type of product is suitable for winter fishing, a picnic or a hike.
- Thermofabric products intended for active sports with great physical exertion in the open air. The composition of such clothing included cotton. This underwear also removes moisture from the body and retains heat, but it is capable of maintaining such an effect for only 6-7 hours.
The pores of the cotton layer are saturated with moisture and gradually clogged. Therefore, this thermal underwear should be promptly replaced with a dry one and often washed.
- Thermo Clothing for everyday use. The composition of this fabric includes a large percentage of natural wool. In everyday life, we do not face excessive loads and sweating. The task of such clothes is to keep warm as much as possible. This underwear is much more comfortable than wool turtlenecks and sweaters. It fits the body well and can be used as an additional, almost imperceptible layer of clothing in the cold season.
In terms of material composition, men's and women's thermal underwear has no differences.Depending on the type and composition of thermo fabric, it is important to correctly carry out the process of washing and drying clothes.
Allowable frequency
The layered clothing adjoins directly to a body and contacts to the sweat which is emitted during physical activities. Contamination of clothes occurs rather quickly. Naturally, the most contaminated underwear that is used for active sports.
In the case of thermo-fabricated products, the problem of pollution also lies in the fact that the pores of the fabric, which must pass moisture well and take it away from the body, become clogged during perspiration. The longer such clothes are used without washing.the more tissue cells become clogged, and consequently, the moisture-removing properties of the product become worse. The complete blockage of the cells of the thermal material turns the thermal underwear into an ordinary dense turtleneck, which does not have the effect of sweating and warming the body. Therefore, it is necessary to wash the laundry from the thermal material often enough.
Clothing, which is used for sports, it is desirable to extend after each workout. Underwear for everyday wear is very desirable to wash at least 2 times a week. Thermal clothing for sedentary recreation is often not necessary to wash.
Purification process
Properly washed thermal underwear at home is not at all difficult. It is only necessary to remember well and observe a few rules:
- Wash linen from thermo fabric in a typewriter machine can only be in delicate mode. It is necessary to set the program "Careful washing", "Wool", "Hand wash" or "Delicate wash". In each model of the washing machine, this washing mode may be called differently.
- The water temperature when washing clothes manually or when machine washable should not exceed 40 degrees. Weak contaminations can also be washed in cooler water, but it is absolutely impossible to exceed the above threshold for all types of thermal underwear. High temperatures significantly reduce the properties of thermo fabric. The linen can be deformed, lose attractive appearance. Such underwear ceases to perform its functions and becomes extremely uncomfortable to wear.
- You can not use the usual powder for any kind of washing of thermal underwear. It strongly clogs the pores of thermo fabric and is very poorly washed out of the material. Suitable liquid gels, special soft products for washing thermotkines, household or regular soap.
- Thermal clothing should not be bleached and use any chlorine-based products for washing. This substance irreparably harms the structure of the fabric.
- Antistatic agents, conditioners or rinses in principle will not harm the product. They can be safely added to the water when machine and hand wash.
- Linen on polypropylene can only be washed by hand. Even a delicate washing program in a car can spoil it.
- Hand washing should be used delicately and carefully. Thermofabric product should not be rubbed, stretched, twisted and squeezed intensively. Hand wash can be done in soapy water.
- Each product has a label, which describes in detail the rules of operation and maintenance. Before you start washing and drying your thermal underwear, carefully read this instruction.
Drying
Proper drying of thermo-cloth products is no less important than the wash itself. Errors at the stage of drying products can negate all efforts to preserve its quality and properties. For proper drying of thermal underwear there are the following recommendations:
- It is impossible to spin clothes in a washing machine at high speeds. The ideal option would be to opt out of machine spin. Also, do not unscrew and squeeze clothes manually. If you need to speed up the drying of your clothes, you can use the spin program at the lowest revolutions. Spin speeds above 400 rpm are not allowed.
- Do not leave the products from thermo-fabric in the drum of the washing machine or in the basin after washing. The washed product should not lie in a crumpled state for a long time. Immediately after washing (if a delicate spin mode was not used in a washing machine), you should hang the laundry over the bath and let the excess water flow out.
- Do not hang a wet or wet product on a radiator, place it in the sun or near a heater. Heat destroys the cellular structure of the tissue. Lingerie is likely to lose its properties forever.
- Drying in the washing machine is also contraindicated.
- In order to properly dry thermal underwear, it must be hung in the open air, for example, on the balcony. One has only to avoid direct sunlight. You can make drying, stretching the product on the dryer or hanging on a rope in a room away from heat sources. Have patience, because, because the spin and intensive drying are impossible, products made of thermo-cloth dry for a long time. However, this is a necessary condition for the preservation of the useful functions of this fabric.
- Thermal underwear can not be steamed and ironed even in a dry state. This material is quite elastic and takes the form of a body, so ironing is not required. To avoid noticeable bends and bruises, you just need to carefully lay out or hang the product during drying.
Absolutely not
It will be useful to remember a few important rules regarding the care of thermal clothing:
- Do not allow significant contamination of the laundry. It is important to wash such clothes in time, as if heavily soiled, the fabric loses its properties due to the blockage of cells in the fibers.
- Strong exposure to high temperatures. This also applies to washing and drying. You can not boil products made of thermo-fabric, you can not wash them in water with a temperature above 40 degrees. Drying in the sun, on the battery and near other heaters is not allowed. Lingerie can not be ironed with a hot iron.
- Do not use for washing cleaners with chlorine and other aggressive chemical constituents. Thermal underwear is not suitable for using ordinary laundry detergent.
As you can see, washing and care for thermal underwear at home is quite feasible and not time consuming.
Following the above rules and advice will help to preserve the quality and valuable properties of the thermo-fabric of your product. Such underwear will be able to please and warm you for a long time.
