Every new season of the nail industry pleases us with the latest trends. One of them is the technique of "veil", also referred to as "pantyhose." What it is, how to carry out the design correctly and from what tones of the color palette, let us consider in detail below.
Description of technology
Technique manicure "veil" is based on the principle of translucency. It usually uses the same color of the base and pattern. The coating itself or the background should be translucent, the tone of the pigment in the classic version should be perfectly the same to create the desired illusion of nylon pantyhose. In essence, this is a design with a pattern on a translucent background.
Advanced masters of nail salons manage to use a similar technique on already painted nails.
So, they decorate the accent nails of a single-tone manicure, and sometimes they combine a “veil” with other methods of performance (classic, French, gradient).
Looks beautifully "veil", combined with the technique of negative space. For example, part of the nail may have a nylon design, and the second - a lace pattern on an unpainted nail plate.
The "veil" technique allows the use of varnish products with different coating textures. For example, for such nail design you can use glossy and matte gel polishes. At the same time, matte varieties can have different imitations of texture (velvet, velvet, satin or velor). If there is no matte lacquer at hand, and you want to make the design absolutely matte, then for “tights” they use glossy lacquer, covering the pattern with a layer of matte top.
What colors of gel polish are suitable?
Color solutions for this technique can be very different. In the traditional version it is black and white. Today, professional craftsmen take the technique as a basis, but they already have contrasting patterns on it, drawing on a translucent background, for example, delicate flowers, butterfly wings, veined leaves or feathers.
Looks great technique "veil", made in dark shades of a color palette. For example, it will look stylish in a gray, chocolate color. Violet design with a matte texture, as well as design in the color of Marsala or khaki will be elegant.
When performing it is necessary to take into account that too light tones do not look very good in this technique, especially the nude range is not suitable for this coating.
How to make to look fashionable?
To make a veil manicure in two ways:
- having previously created a pattern, and then having covered the nail with a smoky background;
- causing tint and only after that draw the necessary elements of the picture.
Both techniques involve the preliminary preparation of nails with the removal of pterygium and cuticle.
To make the design according to the rules, you need to prepare a base, top, sculptural gel, pigmented varnish, a drying lamp and a tool for creating a picture. You may need a thin brush and dots with different nozzles (to create round dots).
Camouflage base is used when you do not want to see through the nail plate.
Before applying the base, the polished nail is treated with a dehydrator to remove residual sawdust.
The technology of manicure in smoky technology consists of the following successive stages:
- create a palette of foil, where they mix the top with pigmented gel polish;
- a thin layer of base coat is applied to the nails (thick and dense will spread, falling behind the side rollers and the base of the nail);
- the base is dried under a special lamp (UV or LED) for the required time, which depends on the type of lacquer product used (on average, 1 minute);
- draw the contour of the nail, displaying a straight and uniform in thickness line, starting from the base of the nail in the middle;
- proceed to the formation of the pattern, for which dots are used;
- the design is made out as you wish, choosing some pattern as the basis;
- after the drawing is ready, it is covered with a layer of tinting with a translucent texture;
- the coating is dried under the lamp, then covered with a layer of a transparent top;
- remove residual stickiness from under the cuticle using a cotton pad moistened in a “wedge”.
The technology can be slightly modified by first covering it with tinting, and after that, drawing and securing the drawing with a finish line. It is possible to modernize this method. To do this, you can use a little glitter or acrylic powder. In this case, the decor is applied dosed onto the acrylic paint used or gel polish (if the drawings are created by them).
Choosing such a design option for the “veil” technique, you need to take into account that it is necessary to polymerize powder or gloss twice as long as a regular layer of gel polish or base. As a rule, it will take an average of two to four minutes to decorate well.
After it is dried, you need to fix the coating with another layer of top with its drying.
What if there are no drawing skills?
There is no limit to perfection, as well as nothing is impossible when you want to make a beautiful design, but there is no ability to draw. In this case, it is worth resorting to some tricks. For example, stamping can be a great way to apply a pattern. This manicure assistant is a special manicure plate with an engraved pattern of various subjects. Color solutions
Looks better veil design with a matte finish. In this case, the technique can be combined with colored lacquers. For example, nylon manicure will be beautifully combined with nude, pinkish-coral and beige background, fuchsia, mint, peach, coffee. Such a design looks no less gently in contrast with the pale pink tone and lilac color. A luxurious design is obtained by combining the veil technique and covering the Marsala hue.
