Italian technology has long been one of the most popular procedures for increasing the length of hair. The relevance of the technique is related to the effect created - hair extensions do not differ much from relatives, and the technique itself is considered the most benign for curls.
The essence of the technique
Italian extension was invented back in 1991 by the famous stylist David Gold. His clients often complained that shortly after the build-up using the English method (using resinous capsules), artificial curls are very poorly maintained on native hair. At that moment, the barber had the idea to come up with a special adhesive composition that would allow women to forget about the problems. Empirically, Gold developed a special composition based on frozen keratin protein, he very firmly fixed all donor strands and reduced their loss when combing to almost zero.
Building on the Italian technique is a hot method, because in the process they use special forceps to heat the keratin capsules, however, women can be completely calm - despite the exposure to elevated temperatures, the hair remains healthy and intact.
Keratin in its structure is similar to natural protein and does not harm curls, and the capsules are very strong and comfortable to wear. Modern technologies make it possible to dye them in a variety of colors, so the place of transition from natural strands to extensions remains invisible to outsiders.
Advantages and disadvantages
Italian building has quite significant advantages:
- effective increase in the size of the strands and the degree of their density;
- full safety of the whole procedure and a feeling of comfort during manipulations;
- Depending on the structure of native hair, you can pick up capsules of different colors, as well as the volume and shape;
- hair fixation points are completely invisible;
- keratin capsules are flexible but durable;
- composition is hypoallergenic;
- accrued strands are easy to remove;
- during the correction apply the same materials;
- You can unlimited access to the pool, bath, beach;
- when attaching multi-colored strands, you can achieve a fashionable highlighting effect without the need to dye strands, in addition, the technique allows for all the styling options.
However, it was not without drawbacks:
- the extension procedure is very laborious and time consuming;
- Italian building requires a master of high qualification; any inexperienced hairdresser will not cope with all the subtleties of this work;
- in the first days after the build-up, women may feel some discomfort;
- it is impossible to comb the hair out of the capsules, so over time they will fall out.
In general, all the disadvantages are completely outweighed by the advantages of the technique. If all the rules of work are observed, donor curls do not cause any discomfort to their owners, and relatives remain healthy and strong for a long time.
It should be borne in mind that the technique is not for everyone. So, building is not recommended in the presence of one of the following diseases:
- atopic dermatitis;
- seborrhea;
- ringworm;
- vascular dystonia.
You can not grow hair during the course of radiation and chemotherapy, as well as while taking antibiotics, in addition, you should not resort to the procedure if your hair is too damaged or abundantly fall out.
Girls under the age of 15 do not have keratin extensions, because the hair at this age is still rather weak and the procedure can damage them greatly. Here only cold method is allowed.
Training
If you are determined to increase the length of hair, do not immediately rush to the hair salon. Experts recommend to start to treat family curls, especially if their condition leaves much to be desired. Masters should pick a qualified, best of all, according to reviews of friends. Be sure to consult him on all the subtleties of the procedure, as each barber makes recommendations based on personal experience and level of skill.
Before starting the procedure, be sure to rinse your head, since the capsule is glued only on clean hair.
Special attention should be paid to the selection of strands. The Italian technique implies certain restrictions on the length of the curls: the smallest size of donor strands is 6 cm, and the maximum can be increased to 70 cm. , it may take up to 150-200 strands - all these details should be discussed in advance with the master, since they significantly affect the final cost of the work.
Varieties of curls
The quality of the donor strands themselves deserves special attention, usually use Asian, Slavic, as well as South Russian and European.
- Asian hair considered the most dense and straight, while their cost is minimal. At first, the hair looks smooth and luxurious, however, this effect is achieved with the help of special wax, which, as it is washed away, loses its glossy effect and the hair quickly becomes untidy and faded.
- European hair They are characterized by a characteristic natural shine, softness and exceptional flexibility in styling. The cut is usually even, so the hair without damage to its appearance and structure endure up to 3-4 corrections.
- South Russian strands much more expensive than European and Asian, so they can be found on the market infrequently. Their advantage is a wide color palette, which includes an abundance of shades from light to dark blonde. With proper care withstand up to 3 adjustments.
- Slavic hair - These are strands of the highest quality, respectively, and the price tag on them is high. Such curls are quite strict selection before you get to the beauty salon. Strands have a perfectly even cut, all hair shafts are smooth, and the curls themselves are obedient and very gentle. These strands can withstand more than 4 corrections.
Technology
The procedure of Italian extension is carried out in several stages, we give a description of them.
- To begin with, all the shovel should be lifted and fixed with the help of a hairpin, while part of the hair should be left intact.
- Then the master takes turns one by one. Traditionally, the thickness of the beam is 2-2.5 times thinner than the volume of donor hair. A tread is worn on the strand; it is designed to protect the skin from red-hot forceps and the active substance on the skin.
- Donor hair is added to the natural strands; for this, heated forceps bring to the capsule for just a couple of seconds, this time is enough for the keratin to begin to melt.
- Immediately after this, the donor curl is sealed to the natural at a distance of several centimeters from the roots, and keratin begins to envelop both beams and firmly fix them in the form of a capsule. The final coupling is made either by forceps or fingers - they are pressed against the capsule.If it turns out not strong enough, then it is heated again and re-fixed with forceps.
The build-up according to the Italian method may vary depending on the size of the capsules themselves - if they are too thin, then this technique is called the “microcapsular build-up”. This option is optimal for hair extensions at the parting point, for short hair, at the temples and bangs.
Care
If the procedure of capsular extension was carried out correctly, then after 2-3 months you will need a correction, sometimes the need for it arises later - it depends on the growth rate of the native curls and their structure.
If you do not carry out timely correction, then hair breakage will appear.
Correction of the Italian extension is absolutely harmless to native hair and does not destroy its structure, which is why re-fixation can be carried out immediately after removing the capsules. In order to remove keratin crystals, the master first applies a special solvent to them, which softens the capsules and makes them pliable. After that, they break them with forceps, which visually resemble pliers, and the built-up strands gently pull them down, holding their relatives at the roots with their hands.
Then the hair is thoroughly combed, washed with shampoos, treated with care products, after which they re-acquire an aesthetic appearance and can be reused. As a result, substantial savings are achieved, which always pleases women.
Care for hair extensions has a few more subtleties.
- Immediately after the procedure, the curls should not be rubbed and pulled with their hands - the capsules need time to harden, otherwise they simply disappear.
- Hair should be washed with water no more than twice a week, always using gentle shampoos without silicones and sulfates, otherwise the curls will look heavy and unnatural. If you intend to use masks and conditioners, then they should not fall on the roots, near which the capsules are located.
- Italian build-up withstands staining, but it will still be better if you paint the curls before the procedure, as hydroponic can break the integrity of the capsule. If you have a need to dye your hair after the extension, make sure that the coloring composition contains no more than 6% ammonia.
- Hair should be brushed with special brushes, which are sold only in specialized stores, as a rule, they have two-stage teeth (silicone and soft natural).
If you ignore these recommendations, the type of hair extensions will deteriorate rather quickly, the adhesion will weaken, and as a result you will not be able to achieve the ideal effect you expected.
