In any structure, whether it is an educational, state or political environment, there are ethical norms. The success and prosperity of the company determines many factors, including compliance with corporate ethics. A company is a system with one goal. Inside it works a large number of workers who perform different tasks and have different competencies. It is not surprising that among them there are subordinates and superiors, and the effectiveness of the work process will depend on how communication is built between these parties.

Features

Business etiquette is historical in nature, evolving over the centuries, it can vary in different countries, because it relies on local traditions, customs and rituals. For example, in Japan, business partners do not shake hands as a sign of greeting and respect, but bow slightly with palms folded in front of the chest.

Etiquette is an external form of behavior, a reflection of which is the internal morality of a person, his education and culture. Finally, this is a beautiful manifestation of manners. Corporate ethics is a concept that combines the values, beliefs and norms of behavior of employees of one particular company.

Each company has its own corporate code - it is a set of rules defining behavior in different ethical situations, in relations between employees and superiors. It is divided into two parts: ideological - the overall goal or mission of the company, its values, and the normative - the list of rules and behavioral standards.

Corporate Code Functions:

  • reputation - increasing the prestige of the company due to the presence of a code, which increases customer confidence;
  • managerial - determination of the standard of collective behavior.

Thus, the code is designed to improve the corporate culture of the company, sets common ideological goals and values for employees, which, in turn, increases the efficiency of their work and the company as a whole.

Features of ethical corporatism are reduced to the standards adopted within the structure, they include - the rules of communication, behavior, decency, politeness, manners.

Corporate culture

These are the same for all employees of the enterprise rules and norms of behavior in different business situations, as well as ideological beliefs and goals.

Corporate culture consists of:

  • formulating a unified concept that includes mission, values and goals;
  • observance of subordination, control and management of the organization;
  • formation of individual corporate style (logo, colors);
  • compliance with the norms and rules of conduct of employees.

In a company that is convinced that the customer is always right, the employees act according to this principle. They will always be respectful of the client, even the most negative mood. And they will find a way out of a difficult situation, while maintaining good attitude and calm.

Science knows many ways to form a corporate culture; we will look at the main ones:

  • The formulation of the intellectual concept of the organization - its values, goals and approaches to work so that employees and clients can understand it.
  • Leadership demonstration of commitment to organizational culture, to values and goals, thereby setting an example of the fact that employees also need to adopt and support corporate culture.
  • Creating the conditions for improving the corporate culture - encouraging teamwork, creative and creative work, mutual assistance and refusal from competition within the team, a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Taking into account the conditions and principles of the current culture in the selection of new employees - paying attention to their personal qualities. Conflict or, on the contrary, too infantile employees may be a weak link in the structure.
  • Encouraging adherence to norms and rules of conduct, the introduction of innovative ideas and constructive solutions.

Types of behavior

The behavior of employees in an organization is determined not only by the list and set of internal corporate rules of the organization, but also by the totality of their own psychophysical characteristics of a person, the distribution of labor roles, the requirement for an employee’s professional activity, its assessment and control, methods and features of management decisions, the feature and speed of adaptation of new employees the way they are hired, and the order of dismissal

Types of labor behavior:

  • Personally Conditioned - the labor behavior of a person determines his personal qualities (character, temperament, emotional intelligence), as well as beliefs, ideas and values, his needs and motivations. This type is divided into several subtypes of employee behavior according to the degree of motivation: proactive, formally loyal and deviant, the latter - deviating from work, not obeying the rules and superiors.
  • Role or functionally conditioned - behavior determines the degree of the position held by the employee. From an ordinary employee to a senior manager, and then their difference is natural, as is the difference in the standard of their behavior.
  • Loyal, moderately loyal and disloyal types of employee behavior, differing in the degree of adherence to goals, values, etiquette rules and norms of organization behavior.
  • Formal labor (in accordance with the rules and regulations), non-formal labor (determined by the actual working conditions), informal labor (relationships not related to work activities), behaviors that differ in the degree of participation in the activity, different in nature and goals that exist in a particular organization.

Business Etiquette

We have already determined that any commercial company has its own corporate code - a set of rules and a standard of business behavior. Consider the universal rules that should be followed in any corporate environment:

  • Following the standard of business communication with employees and customers of the company.
  • Loyalty to the company and the team, care about the reputation of the corporation.
  • Teamwork to achieve a common corporate goal.
  • Compliance with the quality control of the services provided or the company's products.
  • Responsible and friendly approach to working with clients.
  • Observance of subordination.
  • Following the established communication system in the team, the use of speech, written, non-verbal communication.
  • Compliance with work schedule.
  • Constructive decisions in a conflict situation.
  • Continuous development of employees, participation in trainings, training courses, training and knowledge transfer to young and new employees.
  • Adherence to job duties, encouragement and remuneration of employees, fair career growth.
  • Compliance with the business dress code (classic suit for men, a strict trouser suit for women or a simple cut dress-case, a blouse with a skirt below the knees).

But it is necessary to observe ethical rules not only within the framework of the working process, but also at the joint holding of holidays, that is, at corporate parties.

Employees should be careful how they are expressed, to avoid excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages. Try not to attract the attention of the authorities, do not fawn and do not try to be overly courteous.

Inviting a party to the company of their wives or husbands is not welcome this is permitted if it was authorized by management.

Choosing a wardrobe for such evenings is wise, although some freedom is allowed in the choice of evening dress, but it still should not be vulgar or overly open.

Relationship rules

The relationship between the boss and the subordinate affects the quality of work of the subordinate and the work process as a whole. Properly assigned tasks by a manager are half the success of an ordinary employee in their implementation.

As well as a low- and middle-level employee, a manager must rely on business ethics in his work and follow certain rules of relationships.

The success of the relationship manager and subordinates lies in the following bases:

  • The leader must be an initiative leader who will inspire and motivate his subordinates.
  • He should know all the necessary information about his employees, and when communicating with them, rely on their personal and professional qualities. To be able to find an individual approach to each subordinate.
  • To be able to delegate your work, correctly distribute tasks among subordinates.
  • To carry out moderate control over the work of a subordinate in such a way that it does not reach the “wardship”.
  • Be able to provide employee freedom to perform tasks.
  • Be able to thank the subordinate for the work done.
  • Do not be afraid of the higher competence of the subordinate in certain issues or tasks and accept it.
  • Do not give empty hopes and promises that are not going to or can not fulfill.
  • To motivate subordinates not with the help of punishments, but thanks to material and moral rewards.
  • In controversial issues, be able to communicate with subordinates without raising your voice, maintain self-control and calm. Watch your speech: do not resort to irony in the assessment, do not insult feelings, do not go to the person.
  • In relation to subordinates to be benevolent, but not to allow familiarity.
  • Criticism and comments should be fair and only in respect of actions, and not the person, should be put forward calmly, preferably not in the presence of third parties.
  • The leader must be able to perceive criticism from subordinates and analyze his own behavior.
  • To be susceptible to flattery, subservience and admiration.
  • Do not create a circle of "favorites" and especially close.
  • To be an example for your employees - do not be late for work, dress, observe a corporate dress code, and demand this from your employees.

In general, the leader should be fair in his judgments and criticism, be attentive and sensitive to his subordinates, to their problems and experiences. He should be responsible for his team and the situation in it, as well as in the work process. In difficult situations, to own your emotions, to observe restraint, to show firmness and calm.

Subordinates, in turn, must respect the boss, be polite, tactful, not flatter, but behave with dignity. Employees should not be arrogant and self-righteous, but at the same time be able to be initiative and executive. In a word they must obey the rules of subordination.

Thus, for successful and effective cooperation, subordinates must be responsible, honest and conscientious, sociable with colleagues, united with the team, have a sense of belonging to the common cause. They must have stamina and endurance, ability to work, be diligent and diligent in everything. Respectful of senior employees and superiors, but at the same time maintain self-esteem.

The task for all managers is to provide a healthy working environment in their company, to determine the rules of the “game” for all its participants, to create favorable and comfortable working conditions for all.And this can be done only through the formation of an internal culture, the presence of a corporate code and the adherence of business ethics. These fundamentals are the key to the success of any company.
