Every day lovers of sports shoes are becoming more and more. And this is not surprising. After all, sneakers are comfortable, practical and even beautiful. Sports shoes can be very effective, for example, if it is suede. True, suede sneakers get dirty quickly and they are not so easy to put in order. But, if you know some rules, you can easily rid your shoes of stains and dirt.
What are the pollution?
Luxurious and spectacular suede shoes have always been fashionable. Recently, not only shoes or shoes, but also sneakers have become popular. Sports models for everyone without exception. Even for those who are far from sport, but very fond of comfortable and spectacular shoes.
True, not everyone is at risk of buying such products, because they quickly get dirty. Suede shoes need special care, otherwise it very quickly acquires a scruffy and untidy look. Many who did not manage to return the old look of sneakers simply get rid of them and buy ordinary ones.
Mud stains from sweat or dirt swell into this type of shoe. Get rid of such problematic spots using a normal damp cloth or sponge will not work. Here we need a special approach and, most importantly, accurate knowledge. How to clean dirt stains, how best to do it, will be described in detail in this material.
How to wash and clean?
Unfortunately, it is better to wear suede shoes in good, clear weather, but on a rainy, slushy day, it is better to wear something else. But it is not always possible to protect the sneakers from dirt, and as a result, the spots lightning up into the suede fabric and it seems that the shoes are permanently damaged.
Do not rush to wash sports shoes and try to get rid of stains at home, not knowing all the rules and practical advice. At home it is quite possible to clean the suede products so that they will regain their former look.
If you returned home, and there were dirt stains on your shoes, then do not rush to wipe your sneakers with a rag. In this case, you will only smear the spots, and they will erode into suede fabric even more.
First you need to give the shoe to dry completely, and only then brush off the dirt. The brush should be special, not too hard, it can damage delicate shoes. It is better to give preference to a rubber brush. In many shoe stores you can immediately buy a special brush for suede. Sometimes this simple method helps to get rid of dirt and no stains remain.
Grease stains, which also often appear on shoes, can be removed using ordinary talcum powder. It is enough to fill the stain with powder with a powder, leave it for several hours, and then brush off with a rubber brush.
There is another effective way that has helped many bring suede shoes back to life - this is steam cleaning. It is not necessary for this to have any special knowledge and skills, everything can be done easily and simply in your kitchen.
As you already understood, to get rid of stains, you need steam. Put a pot of water on the stove, heat it well until strong steam is released. Then hold the sneaker over it for a few minutes, then brush the contaminated area with a brush. Then you need to leave the shoes to dry completely.
In addition, many stains from suede shoes can be removed with a regular eraser. Gently rub the edge of the stain with a soft eraser. If the stain easily leaks and disappears, then you can continue the cleaning process. If not, then, most likely, the stain is strongly ingrained in the fabric and now sneakers need to be washed.
How can you quickly wash?
When there is a need to wash sports shoes, many try to do it right under the tap in a regular sink. But such a "wash" can permanently spoil the suede sneakers, and you just need to send them to the garbage.
Wash sneakers of this type, you can, most importantly, know how to wash them so as not to harm or ruin the shoes completely.
Before you begin to wash sneakers, make sure that they really stand the whole process. That is, you need to check the shoes for integrity. If the sole is lagging behind, there is a slight damage to the fabric or small decorative parts that may come off during the wash, then such shoes should not be washed.
First, brush the stains as described above.. This will be the preparatory stage before the main wash.
Manually
If you decide to manually clean your sports shoes at home, then be prepared for the fact that the process will be long. By the way, if you walked in bad weather and returned home in wet shoes, then it should be thoroughly dried.
Never put it on a battery otherwise ruin the sneakers finally: after drying, they will become clumsy and smaller in size.
In order to properly dry them, you need to fill the shoes with clean paper, newspapers and leave in a warm place until completely dry.
The cleaning steps are as follows:
- The first thing to do is to mix ordinary ammonia with warm water. With this solution, slightly wetting the cloth, you should thoroughly wipe all contaminants. Try not to wet the shoes too much, otherwise the spots will be absorbed and there will be stains, which will be extremely difficult to remove.
- The second is to take the usual liquid soap, add one tablespoon of ammonia and mix it thoroughly. The result should be a uniform consistency and abundant foam. This solution, quite a bit, needs to be applied to the stain and rubbed with a special shoe brush for suede. Try to rub gently without damaging the surface.
- Third - wash the foam with a pre-prepared solution: water and table vinegar. After sneakers should be left to dry completely.
If your favorite sneakers are not just bright, but even white, then they need a particularly delicate approach. It is very difficult to care for such footwear and it is even more difficult to remove dirt stains.
To clean white suede sneakers, prepare the following solution: baking soda and regular milk. This solution should be carefully washed sneakers, not too moistening them. By the way, this method not only eliminates stains, but also helps to restore the former whiteness of shoes.
And brown shoes can be wiped with a thick solution of ground coffee. You can use sleeping coffee, but without sugar and milk. After you clean your shoes of stains, apply this coffee gruel, it will help restore the color and make the spots less noticeable.
Is it possible to wash in a washing machine?
Washing shoes by hand is a tedious process. And why suffer so much, if in our modern time every house has a washing machine. Of course, in the machine you can wash your shoes, but with suede products you need to be extremely careful.
Before sending the sneakers to the washing machine, be sure to clean them of lumps of dirt, including on the sole.
Remember that wash such shoes should only be in a mode that is suitable for delicate washing. This can be the mode “Wool”, “Delicate wash” or “Hand wash”.
It is categorically impossible to wash sneakers on a long mode, it should not exceed 40 minutes. For washing models of suede temperature is best suited to 30-40 ° C, no more.
It is highly undesirable to fill up the powder during such a wash, as there are particles in each detergent powder that make the laundry bleached. These very particles can hurt sneakers. Therefore, the use of traditional powder and, especially, bleach, must be abandoned. Pour the liquid soap, washing gel or any other liquid detergent into the tray.
In some modern models of washing machines there are special modes for washing sports shoes.
As for the "Spin" mode, it can also damage the shoes.. Not so much the suede fabric, as the solidity of the sole. Therefore, it is necessary to set either the minimum amount of spin during spinning, or to abandon it altogether.
If you do not want to damage the integrity of the surface of the product, it is better to wash each shoe separately. And do it better in a special bag for washing. If there is no such bag in the house, then you can lay it together in a drum, for example, a towel. It will cushion the impact of the shoe on the drum, thereby preventing the washing machine from breaking.
After the sneakers are washed, they need to be properly dried so that they do not deform. As you already know, this should not be done on a battery or electric heater. Also, you should not dry your shoes with a hair dryer, as many girls are trying to do, which ultimately spoils the look of the sneakers.
Pack your shoes with clean white paper. As soon as it becomes wet, it must be replaced with dry and clean paper. This process will have to be repeated several times in order to get rid of moisture as quickly and efficiently as possible.
It is best to dry your shoes in a draft if it is a warm season, but not in the open sun. In cold weather it will be enough that the product will be dried simply in a warm place.
