What is quilted fabric? Between the two cuts of any material a heater is placed, then the layers are stitched at the desired distance, and a new type of material is obtained, from which they actually sew clothes (or not only clothes, but also blankets and blankets).
Once this composite fabric was used only for the lining (attached or removable) of warm clothes. But if now at the peak of fashion, for example, almost nonsense is a coat without sleeves, then why not make the former lining the front side? Moreover, modern heaters, which can be warm or lightweight, voluminous or flat, light or heavy, natural or synthetic, make it possible to realize any flight of imagination of designers.
Distinctive features of a modern quilted coat are:
- excellent insulating properties due to the large number of evenly spaced seams;
- high windproof properties;
- lightness of the product;
- practicality;
- the ability to create an elegant silhouette that can hardly be achieved by using a different, more voluminous, thicker and warmer fabric in combination with insulation.
Styles and models
Quilted fabric is a very appreciative material, from it you can create a coat of almost any model and style. Depending on the season, quilted coats can be light, demi-season or warm.
The models can be very different:
- a coat of straight cut is a classic option for a calm and confident woman;
- Trench coat - a style for all times, acquiring a special elegance when using often quilted fabric;
- coat with a hood - a model with a sports accent for girls and women leading an active lifestyle;
- short (sometimes to the waist) coat-jacket - a small stylish little thing for a stylish girl;
- Cardigan coat - another classic version of the coat without a collar, but now with a twist in the form of a beautiful stitching and warming;
- a fitted coat of an empire silhouette with two rows of buttons on the chest is a model in a romantic style that emphasizes the tenderness and elegance of the owner, but, if necessary, remarkably hides the extra centimeters at the waist and hips;
- A fitted coat with a flared bell skirt or pleated skirt - depending on the flare of the skirt, the image is also very different: from the elegant and a bit playful to the shocking defiant;
- the coat of the o-shaped silhouette is a wonderful example of retro-style, especially if you add accessories of ankle boots, gloves, hats and, of course, a small handbag, designed in the same style;
- Trapezoid coat is a warm, comfortable and beautiful find for plump and pregnant women;
- an oversized coat is for fans of shapeless clothes, but such a coat also looks great with a sheath dress;
- asymmetrical coat - for women who are fed up with familiar images, and in such a coat everything can be asymmetrically - the front part of the coat is higher than the back, oblique sleeves, one shelf is asymmetrical in relation to the other, asymmetrical collar.
- a coat with sleeves of various lengths - models without sleeves, with short sleeves, with sleeves of length 7/8 and 3/4.
Quilted coat models can have a different shape and type of collar:
- small turn-down collar (round or pointed, single and multi-layered);
- stand-up collar (with or without buckle), rounded or straight;
- English collar (split or solid);
- a shawl collar (with or without quilting, which makes the collar more voluminous);
- high knit collar, often in combination with the same knitted cuffs (long or short) in contrast to the color of the coat;
- This season's fashionable detachable collar made of natural or faux fur.
The clasp can also be varied:
- classic, buttoned (straight or asymmetrical), hidden or hidden;
- with a zipper (detachable or one-piece for jackets with a fastener to the middle of the chest), and the zipper can be sewn normally or diagonally, and even over the shelf;
- Combine two types of fasteners: the lower part of the slats - zipper, the top - decorative loops and the same hooks.
Length
According to this parameter, quilted coats also have practically no restrictions: from short jacket-coats without sleeves to stylish warmed coats in length to the floor. Especially popular are coats of medium length, to the knee.
Material
Upper fabric material:
- gabardine;
- jeans;
- tweed;
- lightweight drape;
- wool;
- leather;
- raincoat fabric;
- polyester;
- Combined version of two or more types of fabric (quilted and non-quilted) with leather, suede, tweed, drape, knitwear inserts - for example, a quilted leather coat with knitted sleeves.
Equally important is the distance at which the quilting of the three-layered cloth is done (it depends on how much the final product will look like) and the type of stitches: geometric (squares, diamonds, stripes) or in the form of abstract patterns - they add additional stylish accents.
Insulation material can be artificial (synthetic winterizer, holofiber, tinsuleyt, valterm) or natural (batting, goose or duck down).
Colour
The color range of quilted coats provides an extensive field for creative ideas of fashion designers: red, yellow, turquoise, purple, green, dark orange and of course, the classics - white, black, gray, beige. This season various combinations of shades of the same tone or different colors are in fashion. The quilted coat of the color silver or metallic gold also looks impressive.
Fabrics with various prints are also used, sometimes applications are applied to the fabric or even decorated with embroidery.
What to wear?
But with the choice of clothing, combined with a quilted coat, you will never have problems because of its rare versatility:
- A short jacket can be perfectly combined with any denim clothing. You can choose a skirt of different lengths and styles (straight or flared, from mini to maxi) or jeans. Add the appropriate shoes (ankle boots for a short skirt or high boots for mini, sneakers or sneakers for jeans). Depending on the choice, you will create a playful, piquant or sporty image. An excellent addition will be a long knitted scarf.
- Straight overcoat, pencil skirt, mid-length suede boots with a flat sole or low wide heel, volumetric scarf is stylish and comfortable at the same time, which happens not so often.
- A spectacular leather fitted coat with a curly quilting of the most popular medium length, with a flared bottom, in a winning light will present a cocktail dress worn under it and shoes or pumps or stiletto boots.
- A cocoon coat with short sleeves will create a brittle effect if you wear a straight skirt or trousers, long leather gloves and a small-brimmed hat.
- Winter cropped coats will look great on you, and you will be especially comfortable and warm if you wear warm pants with boots and fur boots or warm sneakers.
The selection of accessories for a quilted coat is also important.
The main thing is to follow the important rule: if the coat is monochromatic, has a simple cut, regular stitching, then you can and need to experiment plenty with accessories to it: play with the colors of the scarf, gloves and hats. So, you can choose them in the same color with the coat, but different shades from each other.
You can choose contrasting accessories and add a bag, which will also be made of quilted material (leather, leather of good quality or fabric).
If the coat itself is motley, then experiments with accessories will be inappropriate, because your task is to create a stylish image, whether it is elegant or deliberately careless, and an excessive amount of motley and incompatible accessories is not always justified even in a circus.
