New Year's Eve is a special time that we spend with our loved ones. Important elements of these holidays are the Christmas decoration of the home and the gifts we give to each other. Here the question often arises about what is best to give. It is advisable to choose something practical that is useful at home. Of course, you should always take into account the interests of the recipient, his favorite taste and style that he prefers. Armed with such knowledge, we can safely go shopping.

However, there is nothing more spiritual than a one-of-a-kind - handmade gift. In addition, the search for gifts for all family members takes a lot of time. And the queues and crowds in the shops do not contribute to spending long hours in the malls. Therefore, when planning purchases for the New Year, consider the possibility of making gifts with your own hands and make a list of items in advance. This saves time and avoids additional costs.

The most simple crafts

A great idea for gifts can be the purchase of souvenirs or necessary and practical items for each room of the house. It could be something for the kitchen, dining room, bedroom or bathroom. Ideally, such an item should be distinguished by both good design and high practical properties.

Original budget cups for eggs, bowls, teapots, pots, trays, wine buckets, handicrafts made of plywood and plasticine and other items are just examples of interesting New Year's gifts that will always be useful at home.

However, much more original gifts can be made if you apply a little imagination in combination with some knowledge.

  • Painted wooden bowls. Ennoble a simple wooden bowl or bowl with small drawings, such as peas, stripes, or flowers.
  • Make a cool collage of newspaper clippings on any topic, such as sports. You can add your favorite quote.
  • For women, you can make a gift from small hand towels and fragrant soap. All you need is to wrap the soap in a towel in a certain way. Such a gift can be a favorite "talisman for the bathroom." To do this, put the soap on a towel folded in a triangle. Roll to roll. Connect the ends together and tie them up with a rubber band. Decorate with a red bow. Original horns and "moving eyes" can be bought in stationery or another store for small things. And make a nose out of a piece of any red sticker.
  • For the grandmother - a jar with sewing accessories. Go to the haberdasher's shop and buy colored spools of thread, needles of different sizes, and pins with colored heads. Take the original jar with a decorative lid. Put a homemade pin cushion on it. Attach with thread. Add a note from Santa Claus - and you're done. Grandma will be delighted.
  • For grandfather - a frame with pictures of grandchildren. Photo frame is a good gift for any occasion. The grandfather (and grandmother) will surely enjoy the original gift with photos of all their grandchildren. All you need to do is find the old frame and paint it in your grandfather's favorite color. Drill the holes and pull the wire or thread through the frame to get the fastener. Insert a photo of all the grandchildren in one or more frames.
  • Brown paper can pack a bottle (this applies not only to alcohol, but also to all types of cosmetics). Then make a Santa Claus hat. All we need is a piece of cloth or felt, cotton wool and a button. We glue materials in the form of a hat, attach a nose from a button and a beard. We hoist all the construction on the bottle.
  • Pictures of plasticine. To obtain a picture of this plastic material, it is necessary to apply the clay in layers. The first layer is put the elements most distant from the eyes, for example, the sky (blue clay). Then put layers that should depict closer objects (the sun is yellow) and so on, until you get a landscape. Such pictures depicting the New Year theme can be presented for the New Year. They will be quite an original gift.
  • Plywood gifts. This material has the broadest opportunities for application. From it you can build a birdhouse, toys in the form of different animals, shelves, hangers or even a desk lamp. Plywood is used for the manufacture of furniture - stools or coffee tables. This is pretty durable material. But he is afraid of moisture. Therefore, products made from it are desirable to be profiled and dyed.

Plywood is easily processed. Simple schoolchildren can easily cut it out.

  • Fiery inscription. The original idea of the design of the New Year's Eve is to arrange any inscription with matches. On the eve of the New Year this could be the phrase “Happy New Year!”. Spread it, for example, on a baking sheet. Matches can be glued to the surface with weak glue. Shortly before midnight we light all the matches, and when twelve comes, ask the guests to blow them away.
  • Colored paper outlets. Paper sockets made from colorful sheets of paper are ideal as New Year wall decorations. To make them, you will need colored paper for gift wrapping, a metal ruler, a pencil, a craft knife, a hole punch, scissors, and a rope. The paper, cut into strips, may have a different width - the wider the strip of paper, the larger the outlet that you bend.
  • Sew bag for carrying books, magazines or crafts. Choose a fabric that matches the style of the person to whom you present it.

Or add the corresponding photo emphasizing an individual approach.

Useful gifts

Homemade gifts can be useful. Consider some ideas such gifts.

Handmade candles

Making a candle yourself is quite easy by following simple guidelines.

  • The master class begins with the items used for this work. A wax (paraffin), a thick bottom pan, a bowl to dissolve the wax in a water bath, a dye, a container (for example, a plastic cup or beer cans), a finished wick, a knife, a spatula to level the surface of the wax and a hair dryer will be needed.
  • Instead of buying finished paraffin, you can also use the remnants of unburned candles - This is the idea of recycling unnecessary items. If you want the candle to contain additives, be sure to prepare them - for example, lemon zest and others. You will also need aromatic oils.
  • Start by mixing the wax. It should be heated, but not in the microwave. It is best to use a pot with a very thick bottom, dissolving the wax in a water bath. Make it pretty simple. Fill the saucepan with hot water to about half, and place a suitable bowl on it in which to place the wax. Steam rising from the pot heats the bowl and causes the wax to slowly melt. As already mentioned, you can use either paraffin, bought in the store, or the remnants of different candles.
  • Prepare a form to create a candle. This can be, for example, a beer can or a plastic cup. Remember that when the candle hardens, you must cut the form. This should be an object that you can easily cut with a knife. Of course, you can also make a candle in a glass. At the bottom of the finished form, place decorative items, such as shells or chopped lemon zest.
  • To make a scented candle, add a few drops of scented oil and dye to warm wax.. If you do not want to use ready-made oils, you can choose a natural flavoring - a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla for the cake will be ideal substances. Stir gently so that paint and oil spread throughout the mass. If you do not want the candle to smell and stain, skip this item.
  • In the middle of the cooked form, put the wick. You can buy ready-made or use wick from an old candle.
  • Carefully supporting the wick (be careful not to burn yourself), gradually pour out the liquid wax mass. Using a spatula, align it so that it is evenly distributed in the form.
  • Put the candle in the freeze. Depending on how hot the wax was, this can take up to 12 hours. To speed up the process, you can dry the candle with a hairdryer.
  • When your decorative candle completely hardens, remove it from the mold. Cut the plastic cup or jar and discard it.

If you used glass, skip this item.

Washi Tape Candles

Start the decoration with ordinary simple candles, and then decorate them with washi ribbon patterns. Place them in the candle holders for a better demonstration.

Beeswax candles

Pour the melted wax into the candlesticks.Add flavors such as mocha or cinnamon. And the room will be filled with pleasant incense.

    How to pack?

Ordinary white, gray or colored decorative paper, cardboard boxes, bags and even old newspapers can be used as gift wrapping. If you choose a template with a clear graphic motif of black, white, silver or gold material for gift wrapping, it will look very impressive under the Christmas tree.

Glossy paper with a metallic effect will make packaging elegant. Remember that careful execution is important. There should not be noticeable glue, wrinkles or scotch. If you can not independently pack goods - buy decorative boxes.

Gray wrapping paper is the basis of packaging. Colors that blend harmoniously with it - green, red, black and even white. Using a spruce spruce, a bunch of mountain ash or a regular black plastic card, you can beautifully highlight a gift.

Using a printer, you can print, for example, a deer by adding elements cut from colored paper. Beautifully look jars of brown cardboard, decorated with a festive accent - a Christmas tree or a red bow.

A holiday gift will also look very attractive if it is packaged in a decorative bag.

    • You can use various materials such as velvet, embossed leather, felt, thick canvas. Each gift box should always be decorated with an elegant satin ribbon, a ribbon with a winter motif, snow-white lace or colored cord.
    • You can use several different colors. For example, if we pack gifts in a trendy eco-style into plain gray paper, then a decorative thread of white and red flowers will perfectly fit into this festive packaging.
    • Christmas gifts are also worth decorating with small items that we can fasten with tape or stick to the package. There are enough accessories that can be used to decorate gift wrapping. Small trinkets, paper or metal stars, cones and pieces of bark, twigs, rowan or wild rose, dried flowers and even small animals are perfect for this purpose.

Simple gray or white gift wrapping paper also looks beautiful, decorated with stamps of Christmas motifs, such as a snowflake.

Packing sweet gifts can be very interesting.

        • Giving cookies, candy, homemade canned food, spices or handmade oils gives a lot of pleasure. Sweets are best placed in decorative boxes or cans. Tie them beautiful ribbon and put a few cakes.
        • Jams, preserves and spices are often found in jars, which can be decorated with ribbon or lace. Do not forget to improve the lid of the jar with a beautiful festive pattern.
        • Instead of gray paper, you can use an unnecessary newspaper, an old book, a notebook with notes. A few Christmas accents - and it turns out an unusual finished packaging. The newspaper will be interesting to contrast with the red and green ornaments. Such packaging will please fans of simplicity and vintage style. Admittedly, this is an interesting alternative to paper with New Year's themes sold in stores.
        • You can also use colored paper from stationery, which is desirable to decorate on your own or with the help of ready-made stickers.
        • Children will surely enjoy the gift of sweets, decorated with Christmas balls, lanterns and garlands. You can also, instead of the traditional box, pack a gift like candy.
