Russia is famous for its health resorts - mineral, as well as balneological and marine. In 2014, their official list was supplemented with one more - Saksky, which is located within the boundaries of Greater Evpatoria. Silt sulfide mud of Saki lake attracts thousands of Russians due to its unique healing properties.

It has been proven that this medicine, created by nature itself, is able to have a calming effect on the nervous system, in addition, it treats skin diseases and strengthens the immune system.

Description

If we talk about size, the Saki lake is not so big. Its area is only 9.7 square meters. m, while the length is about 5 km, and the width is about 1.5 km. The depth is relatively small, so everyone can carry out healing procedures here, even in the absence of swimming skills.

For several decades, the shape of the lake has been changing, and today it is more like 7 pools, each of which carries out its own mission. For example, bathing in the eastern basin is suitable for therapeutic purposes, and healing mud and mud are mined in the western reservoir for the medical and cosmetic industry.

The lake in the Crimea is recognized as therapeutic, so being constant monitoring of its chemical and biological composition, measures are being taken to maintain the reservoir in optimal condition, with the requirements dictated by the relevant ministry. In the 40s of the last century, Professor Utkin created a special technique that allows feeding the lake, thanks to which the fluid level in the pond is maintained.

After the Great Patriotic War, the salty mud lake became more frequently exploited, the Saki sanatorium was built on its shore - for many years patients have been accepted there for treatment. In the early 80s. last century, it was decided to make the rise of silt deposits more mechanized.

Up to this point, the mud was mined almost by hand, in addition, a network of pools was created for regeneration and a system for feeding brine through pipes was installed.

Up until the collapse of the Soviet Union, Saki Lake produced about 10-15 tons of mud each year, the raw materials were delivered to the largest balneological clinics and sanatoriums of Crimea, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. But since 1991, production volumes have sharply declined, since the unstable economic and political situation in the country has relegated to the background the needs of the sanatorium-resort industry.

Interest to rest on the Saki Lake returned only recently, and every year more and more tourists come here. The waters of the lake are a unique natural resource that allows people to get rid of most of the ailments without resorting to surgery. It is no coincidence that many gynecological, urological and neurological resorts have been built on the shore.

Story

The emergence of a healing water reservoir was largely promoted by nature itself. The lake was formed over 5 thousand years. So, after the end of the glacial period, the sources moving from the ancient seas began to cover the land section where the city of Saki is now built. Large bays appeared in this place, but due to tectonic processes they eventually separated from the sea and became independent reservoirs.

Most of them were not fed by any underground rivers, so when the dry continental climate finally established on earth, they simply began to dry out. As a result of the rapid evaporation of moisture in the water of Saki lake, the concentration of brine significantly increased, which gave an impetus to many other natural phenomena. In particular, the crystallization of salts began, which in the form of a precipitate began to sink to the very bottom. Most likely, during this period at the bottom of the lake and formed a very dense salt layer.

For thousands of years, sea salt is completely mixed with deposits of sulphide mud, which in ancient times was deposited in the Crimean steppe as a result of volcanic activity. In the 20th century, scientists confirmed that the useful dirt of this place is saturated with concentrated iron. While all the other salt lakes in the world can boast of extremely radon and hydrogen sulfide springs.

Initially, the lake was used only for salt mining, this was done by the Greeks and Tauris. They offered their goods to the merchants for huge money, but already in Ottoman times the lake became the center of mud therapy, it was then that the healing effect of mud and salt was noticed, which contributed to the rapid healing of wounds and made the skin soft, smooth and fresh. With the transfer of Crimea to the possession of Russia balneological practice was continued. The first time with smears of useful substances smeared the wounds of soldiers, and in the 80s of the last century dozens of health resorts and mud baths were opened here.

It was from that moment that the official balneological history of this place began.
