The choice of the pattern depends not only on the preferences, but also on the skill level of the knitter. Beginners have a sense to pay attention to simple patterns that will not cause insurmountable difficulties in execution, will allow you to gain the necessary experience and will please the result.
Skilled craftswomen can pick up something from a variety of complex openwork ornaments, but do not neglect simple ones, which always look beautiful.
With the onset of cold weather, the cap becomes an indispensable attribute. Single-layered, double-layered, with a pompon or without, complex knitting, simple knitting, minimalist or with a large number of bright details, they will never lose their relevance.
Patterns that can be found in a great variety will help to make the cap unique, so that everyone, even the most fastidious person, will be able to find something for himself. It is worth noting that the pattern performs not only a decorative function, but also makes the cap denser and warmer.
The choice of material and tools
Before talking about patterns for caps, you should pay attention to the materials and tools with which the cap will be made.
The choice of the needles depends on the yarn from which the product is planned to be made. As a rule, it is written on the package with yarn which number of knitting needles to knit, so that the density is optimal, and the fabric is most even without too much too loosely tightened loops.
The most convenient way is to knit hats made of yarn of medium thickness, the length of which is about 250–300 meters in a skein. Ideal needles with the number of 2.5-3. But from thin yarn (600-800 meters in a skein) knit the hardest. Therefore, a certain level of skill is required to work with such a fastidious material.
The fashionable last couple of seasons thick-knit hats are made with the help of knitting needles number 8-12. As a rule, preference is given to the garter stitch and the front smooth surface, because it is difficult to make a pattern with such bulky threads.
Today the market has a large number of diverse yarns: from elite brands of natural wool to polyester, at a very affordable price. Thanks to modern technology, any yarn looks beautiful and maintains its presentation for a long time. Therefore, the choice of the composition of the thread depends only on the personal preferences of each knitter.
Simple patterns
Needlewomen with little experience, the master advised to start with simple drawings, which are based on knit fabric, wrong or facial smoothness. Spectacular geometric patterns of triangles, squares or rhombuses are created by varying the alternation of loops.
The simplest version of the knitted fabric is a garter knitting, in which all rows of the product are made with face loops. Shawl knitting is a faceplate on the front side of the product and, accordingly, purl - on the purl. The “face” of the work can be either side of the canvas, depending on preferences.
Elastic
This pattern due to its simplicity and versatility will never go out of fashion. Products made in this technique look neat and do not require high skill for successful execution.
Elastic bands formed from vertical strips combined from various loops, in all their diversity, are widely used to create headgear. The front loops in such a pattern effectively fold into a bulge, and the backs form a concave strip. The main feature of this pattern is a large extensibility and elasticity: due to which the product can stretch very much without losing its original shape.
Consider the algorithm for performing a classic 2x2 gum, which can serve as the main pattern for the entire cap or beautifully decorate its lower part.
- You must type an even number of loops, a multiple of two.
- Remove the first loop of each row without knitting (then the edge of the knitted fabric will be smooth and beautiful).
- First row knit, alternating 2 face and 2 purl loops.
- We knit the last loop of each row in a purl.
- The remaining rows are knitted, strictly observing the given order - facial over facial, purl over purl.
- Do not forget about edge loops (we remove the first one, we knit the last one with the front one)!
Garter bandage
No patterns are needed to complete this pattern! The algorithm (see description above) is very simple. The pattern is very beautiful and neat.
This hat can be decorated with decorative flowers or butterflies or embroidered with rhinestone patterns on it. The models, made in this technique, will be made from brightly colored yarn.
Chess
Another option that will appeal to fans of interesting textures, and will be very simple in execution. This pattern consists of alternation of equal squares, made of facial and back loops. Thanks to what and got its name.
At will, such a hat can be tied with a rubber band below or without it, in any case it looks very interesting.
- Dial the required number of loops, a multiple of 4, and add 2 loops to it, which will later serve as edge loops.
- From the first to the fourth row we knit alternately 4 facial, 4 purl loops.
- From the fifth to the eighth row knit 4 purl, 4 facial.
- From the ninth to the twelfth we repeat the knitting of the first row.
Relief patterns
Relief pattern is alternating in a certain sequence of facial and purl loops. The canvas is three-dimensional due to a combination of convex and concave areas of the pattern. The product, made in this technique, turns out to be dense, has no gaps, and the pattern looks very impressive and expressive. Relief patterns invented a huge variety. The main difference is the size of rapport.
Ideally, such patterns are obtained from silk, cotton, a mixture of cotton and viscose, as well as linen blended yarn. Thick yarn gives a very embossed and three-dimensional pattern, and thin yarn gives a noble elegant product structure.
For beginner craftswomen, knitting relief patterns will be suitable as a workout, since it does not present any particular difficulties. This will help to gain the necessary knitting experience and skill.
Confident craftswomen also do not deprive this kind of patterns with attention, because the reliefs look beautiful both by themselves and in combination with other knitting techniques, especially with openwork.
Honeycomb or pearl in both large and small versions is an excellent choice for knitting warm hats and scarves. The product comes out very dense, and perfectly retains heat even in the most severe frost. In this technique, you can make a product with a transverse pattern, for example, stripes, a diagonal pattern, or make a beautiful wave that will transform the look and style of any, even the simplest, cap.
Network
Braids, spikelets or braids are very common and can be combined with other patterns, so they look fresh and original. You can make braids monophonic or knit them from contrasting yarn.
The braids add extra volume and density to the product, thanks to which it retains heat better and protects from the fierce winter frosts, such a pattern can be made as a two-color pattern.
- You need to dial the number of loops multiple of eight and add 2 edge loops.
- Four front and four purl loops alternate in the first row.
- In the second, they switch places: the four purl are followed by four faces.
- In the third row, two loops are removed on an additional knitting needle, the facial knits are knitted, and then the loops that we transferred to the additional knitting needle are knitted, then we perform four facial loops.
- The fourth row repeats the second: four purl, then four facial.
"Cones"
"Cone" or a pearl-pattern is made by tying several loops from one. They can be presented as very small "peas" and large. The most spectacular combination - "bumps" and the front or purl surface. It is worth noting that combinations with other patterns look no less advantageous. On children's models, you can make pearls of yarn of a different color, arranging them in any desired way.
Knitting needles can knit "bumps" in several ways. Consider one of them.
"Cones" from an odd number of loops
This method of mating "cones" is the most common.
First, the front loop is knitted from one loop, then a nakid is made, the front loop is knitted again from the same loop, then the nakid and so on alternate with the face loops until the required odd number of loops (usually, from three to seven pieces depending from the desired size of the future "bump").
The last one is sure to knit the front loop, then the loop from which the knob was knitted is dropped from the left knitting needle. And, thus, from one loop it turns out three.
Jacquard knit
The famous jacquard knit stands apart. Things with a Norwegian pattern look very cozy and original and, probably, never go out of style. Hats, scarves and jacquard sweaters look very unusual. In most cases, skilled workers prefer a two-color pattern, because it looks restrained and, moreover, very beautiful. Traditionally, Norwegian patterns are used in such knitting: snowflakes, stars, deer, geometric figures, such as rhombuses, or even cityscapes.
For men
Men no less than women want to look stylish and elegant. However, hats sold in stores do not always match in color, size or texture.
Yes, and not everyone will like the picture. However, if a wife or mother can knit, do not worry. Few can resist a headdress made by the caring hands of the woman he loves.
Only male or only female patterns for caps do not exist. They are usually universal. However, it is noted that most men prefer discreet models without excesses, for example, with a pattern of rice, made in soothing colors, in harmony with their winter clothes.
