In no case should a pet be an obstacle to travel, as it would be nice for the owner and the dog to walk in an unusual place. Not everyone has a personal car, and some distances on it can be difficult to overcome.
Fortunately, you can take a pet with you on the train, but this is not all that simple - there are special rules for the transportation of four-legged cars in passenger cars.
Basic transportation rules
According to the rules of the Russian Railways, in Russia dogs can be transported in trains, but there is a special document with clearly defined conditions that must be observed during transportation. Here are his main points in brief:
- small dogs of decorative breeds, in general, do not require a ticket, unless it is a long-distance route, but large dogs need a ticket;
- To determine whether your dog is small or large, you can measure the carrying in which it fits - if three measurements together do not exceed 180 cm, then the little dog is small;
- in long-distance trains, RZD has the right to demand payment for a four-legged fare even of modest size;
- the owner of the animal is responsible for compliance with sanitary standards during transport;
- there are special cars that are designed to travel with animals - buy tickets there, otherwise the conductor has the right to refuse to travel;
- A large dog can only be transported if all places in the compartment are fully redeemed, they are simply not allowed into an reserved car, the animal itself must have a muzzle and a leash;
- the large dog for whom the ticket is bought occupies a “human” place, which means that you can't get into one compartment together, no matter what the proportion of people and dogs;
- A guide dog travels for free in any type of carriage, it has the right and must be at the owner's feet all the time, but the leash and the muzzle are obligatory;
- transportation of four-legged travelers is possible in a car of any type, and in high-speed trains they usually have special places for which they have to pay;
- the railroad, unlike airlines, does not require a mandatory demonstration of a veterinary passport from a dog owner.
Small dogs
How to determine that the pet belongs to the small, it has already been said above. At the same time, the breed does not matter - if you are carrying a Labrador puppy, and it is placed in the carrying size described above, then everything happens exactly the same as when transporting its relatives of small breeds. This is done correctly:
- Carrying is obligatory - it is a permanent seat of the beast, while you are on the way, and you cannot release it from there;
- the container with an animal is stored on the shelf for hand luggage;
- think about how the pet will go to the toilet - the neighbors are unlikely to like that the dog-maker in the carrier will normally walk straight under himself, therefore be prepared to walk the four-legged at all major stops;
- regardless of the size of the dogs and carrying, the simultaneous presence in the box of more than two individuals is not allowed;
- all the duties of caring for animals during the journey fall directly on the owner, including cleaning, if the dog caused the sanitary “accident”;
- Payment for transportation of a pet of modest size is carried out at the station on the day of departure.
The cost of transporting a dog in a train depends on the type of car:
- class 1 of the majority of letters, except for U and E, does not imply any additional payment for the passage of the baby;
- 3Ж and 2В require additional payment, but this is not a redemption of a separate place;
- 2U, 2K and 2L make it possible not to buy out all the compartments, as well as 3U, 3D and 3O, but it is still necessary to pay for the animal;
- as for cars of type 2B, 2E, 1U and 1E, a dog can be transported in them without payment for it, but only on condition that the owner has forked out the purchase of the whole compartment.
Large dogs
Representatives of large rocks on the train ride less often, but the task it looks from all sides more difficult. The presence of the collar and the muzzle, which can not be removed throughout the journey, is fundamental. In most cars, except for 1B, additional payment is required for such a journey, but 1B itself allows a free tour for the dog, provided that it is only one of the owner.
In cars 2B and 2E, for the sake of a single dog, the whole compartment will have to be redeemed, the same applies to 1Л, 1У and 1В - however, in the last three cases there will be no additional costs.
Only in cars of type 2U, 2K and 2L, the administration of the railway allows the passage of several large quadrupeds in one compartment, but strictly under the condition that it was bought out entirely.
Required documents
The fact that a pet does not need a veterinary passport for a railway trip greatly relaxes a significant part of the escort, which is not quite true. In fact, a veterinary certificate confirming that everything is in order with the dog, and that he is not contagious with anything, is obligatory - without it, the guide has the right not to let the four-legged person into the car.
At the same time, experts advise just before the trip, once again clarify the rules for transporting dogs in trains of a certain direction, because the Russian Railways periodically changes the rules, and you hardly need an unpleasant surprise in the form of an unexpected refusal to drive through.
If you have decided that an animal will also need a ticket for travel, this is another mandatory document that should be. It is not possible to give any intelligible answer to the question of how much this may cost. it all depends on the type of car, the size of the beast traveler and the duration of the trip.
It is noted that even for a small dog, with which they still demanded payment, the amount will start from about 200 rubles, and for large dogs and for long distances, it can grow many times.
Carrying requirements
Fundamental requirements for carrying do not exist, except that there is no point in the box, whose three dimensions exceed 180 centimeters, otherwise you will have to buy all the compartments. You should also pay attention to the fact that it is impossible to carry more than two individuals in one box, and if there are suddenly more dogs, you will have to buy more baskets.
In this case, the cell must meet certain logical criteria.. For example, during a short journey it is still permissible not to feed the dog on the road, but any dog owner will confirm that the animal must have constant and free access to drinking water, therefore the drinking bowl must be inside.
A disciplined and enduring pet may last for some reason, but it is better not to risk the health of the beast once more.
Carrying should be elementary convenient, because you have to carry some part of the way in her hands. It is included in the list of mandatory requirements in order to protect the surrounding passengers from possible aggression from the dog, therefore you must be sure that neither man’s teeth nor paw will be able to show hostility towards anyone of the neighbors. At the same time, the vessel cannot be hermetic - you need to make sure that the ventilation inside is normal and the animal will not suffer from suffocation.
The most difficult moment associated with the toilet. Since you are traveling by public transport, the bottom of the carrying should definitely not be permeable - if the dog thought it possible to go under him, let the negative rest be limited only to smell, but not by scandal and the way you clean. It is desirable that the box has a fairly high impenetrable side, which will protect the interior of the car from the waste of a dog.
At the same time for absorbency, you can put on the bottom of any soft cloth, if you are sure that a dog trip to the toilet is inevitable. In combination with disposable hygiene bags, similar to those used by parents of babies when traveling, this may be the only solution that allows you to maintain hygiene on a distant journey.
How to prepare an animal for transportation?
You should not think that all these travel preparations and the trip itself are difficult only for you - the dog in an unusual situation will also be nervous. This is all not too good, because of this it can become more noisy and capricious, often go to the toilet and just be sad - any of these phenomena can complicate the task of delivering the beast from point A to point B even more.
To minimize the number of possible problems Before you leave, give your pet any special sedative medication that will help you calm down and more easily adapt to new conditions of stay.
Experienced dog lovers say that, on average, the situation is easier to control in the morning and in the afternoon, because if the road is not too far, and there is a choice of trains, give preference to those routes that move during the daylight hours.
In the long journey the easiest way to feed the dog dry food - it is the most convenient and hygienic for camping conditions. However, some dogs that are fed with natural food at home require a certain period of preparation in order to switch to dry food, therefore you should prepare for the journey in advance, teaching the four-legged to a new menu. Do not even think about feeding your pet with something unusual before departure - digestive problems along the way may be the worst of everything that you can imagine.
Regardless of what time you usually walk an animal, be sure to take a walk with it just before sending it - if a smart dog understands everything correctly, he will try to do all his business while there is such an opportunity. Do not expect your friend to endure forever. - at each long stop, do not be lazy to go out and walk the dog. For the rest, use special absorbent mats and hygiene bags.
Distinctive features of transportation
We have already talked about how dogs are transported in long-distance passenger trains, including high-speed trains like the Sapsan, but this is not the end of rail transportation.
For example, there are special rules on trains - here you may have to pay even for a small dog, and although the collar and the muzzle are vital in the process of transportation, but there is no mandatory requirement for carrying. With a large dog, you theoretically can not occupy a seat directly in the car, but the guide is obliged to let you into the vestibule, where you should always be next to the beloved pet. In this case, the vestibule has a certain size, because more than two dogs cannot be in it at the same time.
Many dog breeders are interested in how to transport dogs on the subway, but here it should be noted that the underground is an organization that has absolutely nothing to do with Russian Railways. Moreover, the metro of each city has its own managing organization, so the rules for traveling in the subway and for carrying luggage of various types, including live, from the megalopolis to the megalopolis can vary significantly.
For this reason, the corresponding question must be asked to the help desk of the metro of a particular city in which you are located, especially since the rules there also change quite often.
Tips and tricks
If the situation with the movement of dogs on the railroad inside Russia is more or less clear, then the particular difficulty will be to travel abroad with the animal. Send the beast unaccompanied simply will not work - this rule is valid in our country, and a living organism will not be able to cross the border without a person’s consent.
Going with a favorite abroad by train, you should take into account many nuances. Thus, the above considered transportation rules apply only to Russia, and in other countries, even very close ones in legal terms, the principles may turn out to be different. For example, in the neighboring Belarus a small dog is considered, which fits in the carrying dimensions not of 180, but 200 cm. However It is not allowed to carry the animal in any wagon other than a coupe. Ukrainian guides will be more insistent veterinary documentationthan Russian, and are entitled to it according to the laws of their state.
An even more important point is to correctly cross the border with the animal.
Here, the countries of the northwestern part of Europe display particular severity - for example, the United Kingdom and Norway do not allow at all to bring domestic pets into the country in private.
