Metis Spaniel: types and features of the content

Mixed breed dogs are known all over the world. They are distinguished by their unique genes, colors, and excellent health. The word "half-breed" is translated as "mixture", "hybrid" and, as a rule, pedigreed parents of such dogs, and the animals themselves combine the best features of both breeds.

It is from these two main breeds that wonderful mestizos arise.

According to rumors, the Phoenicians were the first to bring Spaniels to Europe, and the animals themselves received such a name from the word "Spani", which translates as "rabbit." These dogs really resemble a rabbit with their hanging ears. Only in England, the breed was officially recognized, calling it a “Cocker Spaniel”. Subsequently, all new species of breeds appeared, including the popular American Spaniel. The original breed was changed both in appearance and in the way of care.

The Spaniel boy is a short dog, reaching 40 cm at the withers. Girls even lower - do not exceed 38 cm. In terms of weight, they are not particularly different - about 14 kg both in males and bitches. The color does not vary much: there is red, brown and black, as well as a mixture of these three colors.

The Cocker Spaniel breed is very healthy, and such a muscular structure requires excellent nutrition and long walks. At the very beginning of the breeding, the dogs were supposed to be an aid to the hunt in order to assist the horsemen in assembling the game from the land. Therefore, already at the gene level they are strong, energetic and enduring dogs. Their game grasping skills are determined by the structure of the massive jaw.

Hunter's features are visible in everything: strong bones, all lines are sharp and angular, as if outlined. Eyes oval, with pigmented eyelids. The neck is always straightened, posture is clear. And of course, the famous hanging ears, narrow at the base, extending to the bottom, rounded.

The USA gave the breed a national connotation as soon as the spaniels arrived on the “Land of Freedom”. The American half-breed of spaniel has long hair, which is especially liked to comb as much as possible at the exhibition events, the eyes are no longer oval, but round, the muzzle is short.

In such a cross, everyone immediately notes a long, angular nose. The ears hang down, but tightly abut the head, the wide tail narrows to the tip and very much resembles marten tails. The breed has a short and dense coat, pleasant to the touch, shimmering in the sun. There should be no spots or shades, this fact means only the impurity of the breed.

Puppies of this breed love to play and indulge like mongrels, but from the first months the owner should see the balance and kindness of these dogs, their tenderness and loyalty. If you have a small child at home, it is not recommended to keep a cross between staff and labrador, as this merger does not always bring results in the form of obedience and complete security.

Such a cross is called docker or doxy. Outwardly, spaniels are very reminiscent, but, of course, the dachshund's torso adds mestizo charm and uniqueness. The legs, too, from the dachshund are short. The color is almost always light brown, with caramel tint. Sometimes there are specks on wool.

In order to get a mix of huskies and cockers, only purebred parents are needed. In this case, the result will exceed all expectations, and you will get a magnificent cross between which will have the best characteristics of Huskies and Spaniels. Shiny wool in these representatives fits tightly and is combined with the color of black and white husky. The dog will be obedient and faithful, and from the spaniel it will acquire the indispensable features of a hunter. From both breeds, this half-breed took the friendliness and love of the kids, as well as the absence of aggressive behavior.

Metis is very active, loves both to hunt and swim. This spaniel perfectly understands all commands, kind and not aggressive. Hanging ears, wool shines and fits snugly to the body.

With the passage of time, the Métis becomes more and more, and it is no longer surprising to see the appearance of hybrids with Dratkhaar, lapdog, poodle and bloodhound, but this makes the breed only more unique.

Wool should be constantly washed, diligently combed - this also applies to the ears, as falling hair can fall into the ears.
• Dogs require frequent and long walks. Not all owners are ready for this. The musculature of these dogs requires sports, activity, constant movement and play.
• Food should be full, vitamins and minerals taken into account. You need to purchase a bowl for both food and water, which should be available at all times, for both the puppy and the adult pet are always active.
• It is important to visit the veterinarian in time for routine examinations and vaccinations.as it is very important to control the hearing and sight of the animal.
• The collar should not fit tight, and the size of the neck, because often the dog from emotions can pull the leash and cause inconvenience to itself: choke yourself and rub the neck.
