Summer is coming, many of us are thinking about updating our wardrobe. Buying a new bag is a tempting idea. But if you want something interesting and unusual, then a bag made using macrame technique is perfect.
Features
Macrame bags have a very extravagant appearance. This is worth remembering if you are going to wear them. First of all, no matter how beautiful the wicker bag is, it will not suit a business suit for wearing in an office or a ceremonial dress. You should not wear it in the cold season, as the threads easily pass water - the entire contents can get wet very quickly.
Macrame style is perfect for a boho dress or for a simple outfit of shorts and t-shirts.
Models
Macrame bags have many models, they easily vary on your desire, because you create them. Show your fantasy!
We list the main possible options that you can again change a little on your own.
Bag shopping bag
It is the easiest model. You probably remember something similar with your moms or grandmothers. They appreciated the string bags for their durability and reliability. It can carry products or books. Unlike a simple plastic bag, it will not tear at the most inappropriate moment.
Weave it easy, because you do not need to completely cover the surface of the bag with knots.
A little advice: do not forget to make wide handles. So the string bag will not hurt to get into the hands.
Small
Handbag, made in the technique of macrame, will be a stylish addition to your image. All the necessary things for ladies will easily fit in there: keys, money, a mirror.
If you weave it from thin silk threads, then it will be neat and tracery. And if you want larger patterns, then you should choose thick threads from natural materials, for example, linen or cotton.
Large
Another great option would be a large macrame bag. Most often, it is worn on the beach, and this is justified, because it is light, it fits in a towel, sunblock and so on. Such a bag should not be made openwork, it is better to take thick threads.
Do not forget the pens! Calculate the length so that you can put the bag on your shoulder, and not just carry it in your hands. However, a pen that is too long will also not be comfortable.
What to wear?
Macrame bag is very original and beautiful, there is a temptation to wear it without taking off, with all outfits. However, do not do this, remember the combination of styles! In no case should such a bag be worn with business suits or classic skirts. It will not work for elegant dresses.
Take denim shorts, sandals and a light cotton blouse - a macrame bag will fit in just such a bow. This outfit can be put on in a park or for a walk near the sea on a hot summer day.
Another option would be a light summer dress in country or boho style. Floral print or Indian patterns "cucumbers" - the choice is yours. It will look more interesting if the color of the handbag will overlap with the color of the sundress or some of its details. If your skill in weaving macrame patterns is well developed, then you will be able to independently make several bags for each outfit.
If you are going to wear a macrame bag not only in summer, but also in a colder season, for example, in early autumn, you should think about more warmed clothes. Take your favorite jeans or any other (embroidered or painted models this season in fashion) and a cute sweater.
Master class on weaving bags
Weaving a bag is not so easy. And those who have ever tried to weave something (especially pots) will agree with this statement! Here we present one of the easiest ways to create macrame.
First of all, we will look at the necessary materials:
- The rope is 3-4 millimeters thick with a length of 100 meters. Of the materials are good synthetics or jute.
- Scissors.
First, get ready to prepare: you need 17 strands long, somewhere around four or five meters each and one strand, which will be the basis. It should be longer than the rest of the thread about half a meter. Fold the base in half and place on the table, carefully securing. The remaining threads also fold in half and secure at the base. It will turn out 36 ends (including the two ends of the folded base).
Distribute all ends of the threads into groups, each should have four. After weave a grid of square knots (do not worry, in fact, this is a simple double). The length and width may vary depending on your desire, but on average it is about 40-50 centimeters.
From the inside out, steam off the resulting net (the nodes are convex on the front side) and start weaving the “sides” of your bag.
Fold the fabric in half inside out. Cut three lines of four and a half meters. Where the threads are bent, fasten the ropes. There will be six threads for the “sides”.
Make on three threads from the edge of the double knot. In another row on four threads, make a triple knot (preferably flat) exactly in the middle. Secure the extreme threads at the base and make two knots. So you need to weave to the top of the bag. In the same way weave the other side. This technique will allow you to firmly connect the parties.
Weaving the sides at the end will go into making parts for the future handle. Weave a handle (such that it can be thrown over the shoulder), the pattern and technology can vary as you like.
Here is the simplest scheme of eight threads: use the six threads to braid the remaining two with ordinary double knots.
Bag clasp
Perhaps this part will be even more difficult than the main work. Choose which part will be the back and find the middle on it. Take 2 strings (20 and 40 centimeters), fasten at the top. The small thread is the basis, the other is the working one. Braid the main thread with knots, and cut off the end. Then fold the rope in half and attach the end.
Follow the button in the same way. Take the remaining threads, pin the left part to the surface of the bag and make a loop (the elongated part should be short on top). Secure it and create another one the same and again a short tip under a long one. Thread the long thread through all the loops and tighten the finished knot properly. The result will be a large and massive detail. Attach it to your bag. That's all!
There is a second option.
