Corset on a wedding dress able to turn you into a real princess with a perfect figure. It is the lacing of the corset that will be the main point in the whole process of dressing the dress.
If the corset is laced correctly, then the appearance of the bride will be just perfect. For this process, tapes with high density and small thickness, laces of silk or strips of satin are used. Often the right way to lace up a dress is shown at the time of buying a dress. If the pre-wedding efforts have led to the omission of such questions, follow our advice and the corset of your wedding dress will be laced properly.
Problems that may arise
An improperly laced wedding dress will slide down all the time during the celebration. But not only a bad corset lacing can be a problem. The bride may face difficulties if she bought a dress that is not of her own size. In order not to get too wide attire, at the time of purchase, the corset should be tightened as much as possible and try to stick your finger under the lacing. If the finger crawls through, it means that the dress is great for you.
If you find that the dress is wide, after the purchase, inevitably make a dress. If the corset can not be altered, add a strap to the dress.
Types of corsets
On the corset of the wedding dress are found:
- Hinges A cord is threaded into them during the lacing. Often, such models of corsets are equipped with a zipper.
- Holes. A string is also passed through them. "Lightning" in these corsets is missing, but usually there is a fabric liner that allows you to add one or two sizes.
- Large loops. They are designed to be tied with a wide ribbon.
Stages of lacing
For any type of corset, the lace-up technique will be similar. The process includes the following steps.
Putting on the bride dress
If, at the time of the fitting in the salon, the girl first puts on her shoes and a petticoat, then on the day of the celebration, when the hairstyle is ready, begin by putting the dress on through the legs, and then put on the petticoat. Further, in the presence of a zipper on the corset, you need to fasten it. However, if the halves of the zipper converge end-to-end, you should first tighten the lacing and only then fasten the zipper.
Putting on a lace or ribbon in a corset
First you need to thread the upper loop and tighten the cord so that the length of the ends was equal. So we move down and pass through all the holes or loops.
Tightening the corset
- Holding the ends of the cord (so you will not let them slip out of the loops) with one hand, gradually drag the lacing down with your second hand in places where it crosses. It is more convenient to do this kind of manipulation together - let one friend hold the ends of the cord, while the other will drag it down in turn with both hands. If it is possible to tighten the corset alone, it is convenient to hold the cord at the ends with your left hand, and with two fingers (index and big) of the right hand you should pull the cord at the intersection points, then drag it down with the middle finger of your right hand.
- Grasping the next intersection with two fingers, it should be pulled up, simultaneously releasing the middle finger at the previous crossing of the cords. If a tape is used to tighten the corset, it will not slip out, so you do not need to hold it by the ends.
- Gradually drag the ribbon down through the loops, simultaneously straightening it.
- Bride during the tightening of the corset should support the chest with both hands, so that in the end it does not look too flat. At the same time you need to hide the excess fabric. In corsets without zipper, you need to gently straighten the fabric liner. When there is a zipper on the corset, then fill the excess fabric under the bones to the sides so that the fastener is just in the middle of the back.
Tying a lace or ribbon
Make sure the dress is tight enough around the waist. Tie the ends of the lace with a bow, and if they are very long, trim the excess with scissors. It should be left a little in stock in case of dressing the dress.
In a regular lace, the ends will not crumble and unravel, and if an unusual cord is used, its tips can be treated with a transparent varnish. If the corset does not have a zipper, then you can hide the ends of the lace in the folds.
Tips
- We recommend to practice in the lace-up of a wedding dress in advance, so that on the day of the celebration these manipulations are already familiar to girlfriends.
- If the bride cannot be strongly tightened by the waist (for example, she is pregnant), then the top of the corset is tightened first, thanks to which the breast is fixed. Next you need to tie a knot on the cord and the bottom of the corset to lace a little freer.
- If independent dressing fails, contact any wedding salon where you will be shown how to do everything correctly.

Probably every girl is given to tighten the corset at least once in her life. Not that, and just this thing as it seems. Such a memo should be at hand.
