How to clean the copper?

Despite the fact that the main metal is iron, and the fact that today synthetic materials are being used more and more often, copper products are still widely used in everyday life. And even with the most careful use of any things inevitably get dirty and lose their attractiveness. How to clean the copper yourself, how to restore the original brilliance and beauty to it - these questions interest a lot of people.

Any copper object, even if it simply stands at home and is not used at all, gradually darkens and even grows cloudy. A variety of things are made from copper and its alloys - dishes and coins, figurines and decorations, electronic components and radio components, jewelry and much more. From this it follows that there simply cannot be a single approach to pollution.

At home, almost everything will help clean ordinary detergent. Just put the item in a container filled with hot water, and add the drug there, put a sponge or a cloth made of soft cloth. Using this sponge, gently scrub the product, then transfer it to another pre-prepared container where clean water is poured. Such a simple treatment will remove most of the not too heavy pollution.

Tomato copper ketchup will help to clean copper items relatively easily. It is squeezed into a deep dish, where they put the dirty thing. After ten minutes, you can thoroughly rinse it, and the cleaning is completed. The dark spot is easily eliminated by immersing the thing in a weak solution of acetic acid (60 grams of edible salt is added to it for greater effect). The tank should be metal, because it will boil on a gas stove for at least 10 minutes.

This treatment will convert the oxides into soluble form. Wait until the removed item has cooled, then hold it in clean cold water for a bit, then wipe dry with a soft cloth. Any of these methods can be applied only after you test the effect of funds on a small part of the product.

A ten percent solution of vinegar in water can quickly remove yellow patina. When the dirt is gone, the mixture should be carefully drained, and the coins rinsed in warm water. While they are not washed, it is not recommended to take them with unprotected hands! The red layer is removed with ammonia 5% - sometimes it is necessary to keep the copper circles in it for several hours, otherwise the initial view cannot be returned. As always, after cleaning with any composition, rinsing in water is obligatory.

Often on the coins there are greenish raids. In a glass of water, 1/10 poured citric acid, and then top up with clean water. Then they carefully put the coins into the glass and watch the reaction. As soon as all the liquid acquires a green tint, the products are removed, thoroughly washed and slightly polished.

Sometimes it is very easy to wash the coins - put them in warm soapy water and soak for a while, wipe with a sponge and dry on a clean cloth. Copper coins should not be cleaned with abrasives, potent drugs, concentrated acids and alkalis. Do not attempt to remove dirt with high temperatures.This may lead to the melting of the product or the loss of its strength.

If you need to tidy up a bracelet or an antique product, you need to take extra care. Bright green deposits removed ten-percent solution of citric acid. Before cleaning, always inspect all stains and the product itself, carefully choose the method of solving the problem. If ammonia is not on hand, a combination of 5 milliliters of turpentine and alcohol, one milliliter of water and one gram of oxalic acid are prepared. The preparation should be thoroughly shaken up, using a sponge to lubricate the faded thing with it, and after 5-10 minutes remove the rest of the mixture with a dry cloth.

If copper dishes are not completely free of green patches, cooking in it is absolutely unacceptable! If the thing is large and you do not have a container where you can put it, you need to thoroughly scrub the surface with half a lemon, then a soft brush, and then rinse.

A copper cross or other small thing will easily clean the combination of lemon juice and salt. Squeeze the fruit juice in a bowl (deep plate), the consistency of the mixture should be like porridge. Take a portion of the product with a soft cloth, wipe it thoroughly until the dirt has disappeared. Do not forget to wash and dry the product after cleaning! If there is no time at all, just type in a ketchup plate and leave the dirty object in it for an hour.

If a copper faucet is installed in the house, tomato paste will help to restore the original purity to it. Apply it to the surface and hold for about 30 minutes, then rinse and dry.

Bringing copper objects to shine will allow rubbing them with a mixture of any type of flour, table salt and vinegar (in equal proportions). After wiping, rinse the item under the tap and wipe until completely dry. However, you can do without solutions - just take a newspaper with black and white font. A small wad of paper will very quickly polish the faded surface.

Chemically pure copper is advisable to clean sulfamic acid, but if there is even the slightest admixture, this substance will cause blackening of the product. After removing the dirt and thorough washing will require drying in a cool place. The combination of vinegar with salt and bran helps to remove dirt, it is simply applied to the surface and immediately wiped with dry cloth.

Antique or heavily soiled things should be put in a solution of salt and vinegar, bring to a boil and immediately remove from heat. When the liquid has cooled, the products are washed with warm clear water and dried. Very dirty surfaces are rubbed with a cloth impregnated with a low concentration of hydrochloric acid.

Polished copper can be smeared with kerosene, then rub with crushed chalk.

Classic copper samovar can look very elegant and attractive. But only if it is completely clean. Meanwhile, a dark film inevitably forms on the surface of the copper, and contact with oxygen creates it. A faulty device, which is already suitable only for decorative purposes, needs to be filled with boiling water. If the samovar can still work, pour cold water there and bring to a boil.

In the meantime, the water is heated, prepare a five percent solution of vinegar, it will help to make the outer part of the device shiny. It is necessary to clean the samovar from the outside at the very moment it is hot. This technique is good because it guarantees no scratches on the surface.

If there is no vinegar at home, baking soda will replace it, it also relieves copper from oxide quite well. Soft fabric is soaked in warm water and lightly sprinkled with soda, the product is wiped in a circle, gently, slowly and without pressure. Otherwise, smudges and even scratches may appear.

Scale on the inside of the device will not work. It is eliminated as follows:

• pour water;
• add citric acid;
• boil;
• After cleaning, wash the samovar several times with water.

A small layer of scale is removed with five grams of acid (in terms of ten liters of water), and if there is a lot of it, you must take 40 grams.
