The voluminous, airy tutu skirt will surely delight the little one. Creating such a skirt does not take you much time and effort, but it will give your child unforgettable emotions.
Today we will tell you in detail how to sew a tutu skirt for a girl. In this material you will find not only step-by-step instructions on sewing a product, but also some useful tips on how to wear and with what to combine a skirt-pack.
Features
Tutu skirt, also called “shopenka” or tutu, has come to modern fashion from the world of classical ballet. She was at the peak of popularity in the 90s of the last century, thanks to the popular TV series - a fluffy white skirt became the hallmark of the main character, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.
The idea was instantly picked up by women of fashion from all over the world, but - that’s bad luck! - It turned out that a voluminous multi-layered skirt looks perfect only on slim, fairly tall girls. Young ladies who do not match these parameters look pretty ridiculous in such a dress.
But all of the above applies only to adult girls. Very young lady looks great in skirts, packs, regardless of build. Therefore, little girls - and pyshechkam and skinny - should definitely get a similar skirt, because it has many advantages:
- First, the tutu-skirt, despite the simplicity of style, is very beautiful and spectacular.
- Secondly, it goes well with very different clothes.
- Thirdly, it is convenient for dancing and active games.
- And finally, such a skirt can easily be made independently.
What to wear and match?
Despite the fact that the tutu-skirt is perceived as an elegant or costumed piece of clothing, it fits very well with things in completely different styles, including sports and everyday. It is important that the items in the set are in harmony in color, and the overall style of the image can be any.
Since the tutu-skirt is very lush, you should choose a calmer, slinky or fitted top. This could be a plain cotton T-shirt or T-shirt, shirt or turtleneck.
If it's cool outside, you can put on a denim jacket or waistcoat over your outfit. In the cold season, a sweater or a pullover with buttons can be the top of the set.
If you want to create an image in the style of sport-chic, with a skirt, tutu, you can wear leggings, sweatshirt or hoodie. Sneakers or sneakers will harmoniously fit here.
To create a more romantic look, a pack skirt should be combined with elegant blouses, tops and elegant shoes, such as shoes or ballet flats.
Do not forget about the jewelry: large flowers on the belt or in the hair, unusual headgear (for example, a wreath or tiara), bright children's bijouterie.
How to sew?
The classic tutu-skirt is quite simple to sew, but it requires several meters of material. Usually, capron, tulle, organza or tulle is used for these purposes.
To assemble the canvas in a voluminous skirt, it is sewn with several layers to the waist elastic. But we want to introduce you to an easier way to create a child's skirt-pack. It can also be mastered by an aspiring needlewoman, because it even requires skills in handling the needle and thread.
Most often, for self-tailoring skirts, choose a fabric that is called "tulle". Fatin is a synthetic material with a cellular structure, in other words, a fine mesh. It is of varying degrees of rigidity.
You need to choose a fabric of medium hardness, because soft tulle does not hold the shape, and hard is not suitable for delicate baby skin.
How tulle stain in the desired color?
Traditionally, ballet tutus has a white color, but since we are going to sew an outfit for a child, rather than a stage costume, the color of the skirt can be absolutely anything. If the fabric store did not find the desired shade, you can paint the tulle in the desired color at home.
To do this, you can use special paints for synthetic fabrics, or you can use the arsenal of folk remedies. For example, to give an emerald shade, use brilliant green dissolved in water (but with this method you need to be careful, otherwise not only the skirt will turn green, but everything around, including you and the child).
Another antiseptic, iodine, is used to dye the fabric yellow or orange. A pinkish hue can be achieved by adding fucorcina (Castellani liquid) to the water - an agent that treats the skin for chickenpox.
To get the right tone, first try to paint a small piece of material. You can change the intensity of the shade by diluting the product with water in various proportions. To make the color stable, it is recommended to add a couple of tablespoons of vinegar to the solution. It is necessary to make coloring in warm water (not colder than 50 degrees).
Calculating the amount of tulle per skirt
We will collect a skirt not from wide sections of fabric, but from a set of narrow strips. The width of each strip should be about 15 cm, and the length is determined individually, based on the height of the child and the desired length of the hem.
We calculate the length of the strip as follows: we determine the length of the skirt we want to get and measure from the waistline to the hemline. The resulting result is multiplied by two and add 5-6 cm of stock. For example, for a 4-year-old little fashionista, you need a skirt 30 cm long, so we will need to prepare stripes 65 cm long. In total, such strips need 40-60 pieces. Do not be stingy: the more bands, the more magnificent the tutu will turn out.
Sewing
To assemble a tulle strip skirt, in addition to the fabric itself, we will need an elastic band and a satin ribbon for decoration. From the elastic we will make a belt that will become the basis for the skirt. The length of the gum = waist coverage - 3 cm + small seam allowance.
- The first thing to do is to prepare a fabric. We cut tulle into many strips (we determined their length and width in advance). To speed up the process, the fabric can be folded several times.
- Sew the ends of the elastic and fasten it in a comfortable position, for example, on the back or on the legs of the chair.
- We take the first strip of fabric and tie it to an elastic band so that both its ends are of the same length. To get a tutu volume, knit a double knot, and to create less puffy skirts it is better to use a knot-loop. Try to get the knots neat, and the fabric is not stuck anywhere.
- Repeat this procedure for each strip of fabric until the gum is filled to its full length.
- If necessary, the skirt can be trimmed.
- It is recommended to decorate the belt with a wide satin ribbon. The tape is passed through several knots, and then tied with a lush bow.
You can also decorate a pack of beads and glitter, putting them on the usual universal glue.
